Bishop is accessible by hiking 7.6 miles E over Kearsarge Pass [11,712 feet] to Onion Valley, then take the paved road 13 miles E to Independence, then take Hwy 395 N for 42 miles. Heard it's a great trail town. Includes Whitney alt.

* At PCT mile 1091.1 take a paved road right (Johnson Pass road). Follow the road for one mile east, first on flat terrain and then down a steep switchback to Hwy 50.
* Carefully cross Hwy 50 and you’ll find an unused road (Old Meyers grade rd) closed to car traffic. Go down this road for 2 miles.
* the Old Meyers grade road goes into the village of Meyers with a cafe, sandwich place, small stores and restaurant. The Getaway Cafe was my favorite.
* From Meyers a bike path goes all the way to the “Y” and Lake of the Sky outfitters (around 5.5 miles)
Food: RoJo's Tavern; Taqueria Jalisco; Brewery @ Lk Tahoe but only go for lunch.

PO, laundry, small store, ATM. Power outlets. Restrooms, no showers. Safest access is through the Stevens Pass base area and across the pedestrian bridge over US Hwy 2. Illegal to cross hwy except over ped bridge. Get cash for Stehekin if not already done

Public shower and laundry are available. Can camp out back for free or small charge. No cell service. During peak summer season, shuttle runs 4x a day. PO. Super expensive, bring cash, no ATM.

Last place to meet w/ friends before the finish; can be hard to reach for friends and fam
