2With the fundraising gearing up, will there be a bigger reach out to alumni as a fundraising resource?ACC- Mario TenorioI’m sure there will be. The new VC will develop a thoughtful strategic plan, outreach, etc.Gaye Lynn Scott

2With the fundraising gearing up, will there be a bigger reach out to alumni as a fundraising resource?ACC- Mario TenorioIn our organizational chart plans for the future, we would be considering an assistant director position to focus on alumni engagement! We shared the new vision with our Alumni Network Advisory Council this month at their fall retreat, and we know that our alumni are some of our best ambassadors and donors!
Amy Bawcom (ACC Foundation)

4I'm repeating a question someone asked in the chat (rather than in the Q&A): Will there be transportation services for the data summit?Anonymous AttendeePlease see the General Assembly web site for information: https://tled.austincc.edu/general-assembly. You should have also received an email about registering for General Assembly with additional informationGaye Lynn Scott

5What can be done about the non existent or problematic cell service... in HLC.. this causes issues with "multi-factor authentication" This causes issues for students/ staff to access the network/ system when bringing their technologyAnonymous AttendeeI know that our IT colleagues are aware of these challenges. It’s my understanding they’re working on it but I don’t know thedetails.Gaye Lynn Scott

6There's alot of questions about how leaving the stairwell doors unlocked, elevators, front doors, etc. at HLC2k throughout the day, which seemed to be an additional layer of security. Can someone explain the reasoning behind this decision?Anonymous AttendeeYes. It has created barriers for access and collaboration. The suites of offices do have the badge access for security. We will open up our campuses and ensure safety at the same time.Dr. Russell Lowery-Hart

If the stairwells and Elevators are locked, then how would students get around? What I am I missing?Neil Vickers

7Shouldn't the Intrepeter be visible when someone shares a screen?Connie WallI can see the interpreter at the top of my screen - can you not see her Connie?Gaye Lynn Scott

7Shouldn't the Intrepeter be visible when someone shares a screen?Connie WallZoom doesn’t have a default setting for two presenters and the screen. I am usingthe view that shares multiple people and the screen. Not ideal, but it works this way.Garrett Groves

11Speaking of the Spanish emergency posters... Our campus received these unlaminated, unlike the English emergency posters. I think it’s important to ask why the decision to allow this long term and important signage to go out unfinished was made? We left our old laminated Spanish signage up, while we waited for the new signage to arrive (which also begs the question, why they didn’t come at the same time?). Why could that not suffice until the new posters were properly laminated? I think our Spanish speaking students, walking into an ACC classroom, wouldn’t feel like they matter as much as English-speaking students. The small things matter. Inefficiency matters. And it looks unprofessional.Yvette RuizI don’t know what might have happened, Yvette, but we can certainly ask more questions and make sure it doesn’t happen again.Gaye Lynn Scott

Please do not keep the old version posted becuase they do no apply anymore and are not accurate. Both versions of the posters are know unlaminted because of the printing/publishing issues. Thank you.Michael Garcia

12Any protocols listed on the website for staff who do not have an office to go to in an emergency / do not have an office in the suite without windows?Anonymous AttendeeHere’s the website: https://offices.austincc.edu/emergency-management/. I haven’t explored every aspect, but I expect there are protocols for every situation. You can also reach out to Mike Garcia with specific questionsGaye Lynn Scott

13Can we please have the sign language interpreters spot-lighted at all times (by the host) during the Chancellor's Town Hall? Even when someone is sharing their screen, they need to be visible. --Laura Ater, Admin Asst with SLICLaura AterI have mine on “standard view” which shows the interpreter up at the top and the shared screen below.Gaye Lynn Scott

14Will there ever be a situation where departments can make a decision to unlock doors during business hours? I often think about this in terms of welcomness--but also safety for having an open and unlocked to access.Mary Ann - Alumni - APTEI think All employees can access these areas with heir badge. I do think the office suites are restrcited to just the people in those offices. Do you know of examples where you cannot access these areas?Neil Vickers

15Someone just asked the same thing in regular zoom chatConnie Wall

16Is there any plan to use the clock TVs across some campuses to communicate emergency issues?
I understood that was the idea at one time, but I've never seen anything but the time on them.
Anonymous AttendeeThat is how they should be working. Are you aware of any that are not working. If so, we need to have somoen fix them. We just a did a test of the system a few weeks ago, did you notice, or hear about, some not showing the emerency test message?Neil Vickers
31
17Thank you, Gaye Lynn.Yvette Ruiz

19Late question about fundraising: It was mentioned that community-raised funds will be put towards student tuition, which is VERY much a priority. I’m curious if there will be measures in place down the road to help internal ACC instructional departments or centers with community fundraising efforts or if there will be a system set up (internal grant form? etc.) to allow these funds to be allocated to departments that start outgrowing their budgets for educational programming.Anonymous AttendeeI think all sorts of things will flow from the elevated focus on the Foundation and the work of the VC who will be hired. This would definitely be on that list for discussion and consideration.Gaye Lynn Scott

In the coming year, we will be seeking input from all campus constituencies (students, faculty, staff) college-wide to help us determine the best way that our fundraising efforts can help us love our students to success! Look for some coffee chats or open forums in the spring to share these types of suggestions.

20Specifically some community facing office suites, including the Alumni office. Employees cannot access unless they are in the division and have received clearance.Mary Ann - Alumni - APTEI will talk to Stuart in ACCPD about this. I knwo we resticted some spaces like in IT, but generally I thought ACC employees could access all of the office suites in HLC 3000. They can get into the Executive Suite on the 4th floor, so it seems odd they are restricted from getting into the Alumni officeNeil Vickers

21I might have missed it, but I have never seen the TVs do anything but show the time, or not work at all.Anonymous AttendeeAs Neil said, the TVs should show emergency messaging when it goes out. If you’ve seen a TV that doesn’t switch over to the emergency message, please note where and when and we’ll investigate.Gaye Lynn Scott

22Michael, thanks for the update on safety and emergency protocols...to the point of laminated posters, I teach at class a Eastview and found those left just on the desk...I think they need to be taped on walls where they are clearly visible. Thank you!Margarita Burciaga (She/Her/Ella)Thank you Margarita. We are current reeview the postings at all of the campus. Much work has been done and we will verify that the information has been posted in the correct locations. Thank you.Michael Garcia

23Thank you so much for unlocking the doors. Unless the open doors are monitored, it's just inconvenient and unfriendly to have other doors locked and the signs were terrible to let people know where to go to get into a building. thank you thank you for unlocking!Anonymous Attendeeit makes it much better, doesn’t it? More welcoming and less frustrating.Gaye Lynn Scott

24Given Russel's stated goal of any reorg not causing anyone to lose their job or pay, is the de facto hourly budget cut for many departments still on leadership's radar?
It greatly impacts some of our most vulnerable employees.
Anonymous AttendeeHi there, I'll let the Finance side chime in if they can, but my understanding is there is a perception of hourly budget cuts when hourly funds are converted to be used to create full-time positions. This makes the hourly budget look smaller the following year.Kelly Torrico

Anonymous AttendeeIt’s my understanding that when departments are running low on hourly funds (because the Board increased the hourly rate) they can request additional funds.Gaye Lynn Scott

25Morale Improvement Suggestion for ALL: softer TP in all restrooms across the campus!! (seriously)Anonymous AttendeeWe’ll pass it along!Gaye Lynn Scott

26Will the location assessments include rethinking how we layout and equip spaces? FF&E would love to modernize our spaces and make them more engaging, equitable and flexible where needed. We are behind in college design due to our historical viewpoint not having fully evolved yet.Tennille HWe need to think differently about our campuses on a variety of fronts. Our students are engaging with us differently, and we need to respond. E.g., they need open computer labs to use for a DLS class or to take an online test. So yes, I think we’ll be talking about all sorts of things related to how our campuses meet our students needs going forward.Gaye Lynn Scott

27Is there any update on the Workday Implementation?Connie WallA "fit-gap" analysis is underway to better understand the functionality that Workday will and won't be able to provide vis-a-vis our current state functionality. As that analysis is completed it will be shared with leadership to inform the "unpausing" of the ERP implementation.Jenna Cullinane Hege

28That's great to hear Gaye Lynn, the staff would love the opportunity to be more creativeTennille H

29Will hourly employees get paid what they normally do for the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, even with the college closing at noon?Anonymous AttendeeYes! Paid according to scheduled hours. There will be a memo coming with more info, but hrsupport@austincc.edu is always good for questions.Kelly Torrico
47
30To the hourly question, what about Work Studies?Randi TinsleyI doubt that Work Study students would be treated differently from other hourly employees, but Kelly may know more.Gaye Lynn Scott

31Who do we contact for help getting student use lab that needs a refresh. Most furniture 20 years old. Paint requests pending since Nov. 2023; NRG campus does not appear to be on the list for updates anytime soon.Anonymous AttendeeHave you worked with Bel at NRG on these requests?Gaye Lynn Scott
49
32So if an hourly employee works on Wednesdays from 10am-4pm. Even though the college closes at noon, they can still enter those 6 hours on their timesheet? Thanks for the clarification.Anonymous AttendeeYes :)Kelly Torrico
50

51

38You stated compensation study was well under way.... Are ONLY management teams reporting job description details? I and others were never asked about what we "do". I thought we were going to be asked for our input?Anonymous AttendeeIt’s my understanding that there will be focus groups and a survey to get information from folks.Gaye Lynn Scott
