NOTES
44
*All courses taken for the major must be taken for a letter grade if that option is offered by the instructor.
45
*You must use a program sheet from a year you are enrolled at Stanford. The printed form must be signed by the advisor and, if required, by the departmental representative. Changes must be initialed in ink.
46
*Transfer and AP credits in Math, Science, Funamentals, & TIS must be approved by the SoE Dean's office. Transfer credits in Engineering Depth must be approved by the Advisor. Go to https://ughb.stanford.edu/transfers-ap-exceptions/transfer-requests.
47
*All courses listed on this form must only be included under one category. Delete courses not taken.
48
( 1 )One calculus-based statistics course required (STATS 60/160 not allowed); see Approved Courses page at ughb.stanford.edu.
49
( 2 )Must include both Chemistry and Physics with a depth (3 quarters) in at least one. A depth in chemistry can be fulfilled with CHEM 31A/B & CHEM 33 or CHEM 31M or X & CHEM 33. Must include PHYSICS 41 or 41E (not offered 22-23), CHEM 31M (or CHEM 31A+B) and 2 quarters of HumBio A core (2 from 2A, 3A, 4A) or Bio core (two of BIO 82, 83, 84, or 86 [86 has a prereq of BIO 83]). AP Credit may be used IF placed into CHEM or Physics courses via the Diagnostic Placements.
50
( 3 )BIOE 131 will satisfy both the TiS and WIM requirements. If taking an alternative TiS course, you can satisfy WIM by performing full-time BME research over the summer and enrolling in ENGR 199W the following Autumn (req'd forms available in the ME student services office). Part time research during the academic year that spans multiple quarters on a single topic may be acceptable.
