The tab labelled "Native Amer. Seed vs. shot data" contains the data used for the permutation analyses described under the header "Seeds and Bias" in the Supplemental Materials and Methods. The rows in yellow are the 16 skulls arbitrarily excluded by Gould. The row in red is the individual identified by Morton as "mixed-race."

The tab labelled "ANOVA data" contains the data for the analyses of variance (ANOVA) and ANOVA permutations listed under the header "Analysis of variance" in the Supplemental Materials and Methods.

For both tabs, the column names are as follows: specimen (the specimen number according to Morton's numbering system), "affiliation" (the description of the skull's origin by Morton), "race" (the racial group the skull belonged to according to Morton), "family" (the family-level subgroup the skull belonged to according to Morton), sex (the gender of the specimen), ic (shot) (the inner-cranial capacity of the skull as measured by Morton with shot in 1849), ic (seed) (the inner-cranial capacity of the skull as measured by Morton with seed in 1839), and ic (shot) - ic (seed) (the difference inner-cranial capacity measurements made by shot and by seed)
