Joe W. Phillips was a relative of mine. I am grateful to find this page. I have a copy of his record. He was from Alva, OK, my grandfather was a farmer and cattleman there. Several of the dates are incorrect and I believe Joe joined in New Mexico, not New Jersey. I tried to find his years ago, but she is long gone. Thanks again!

John B. McGill was my uncle. I am the daughter of his brother J. Francis. I found this site today, the day before the 75th Anniversary of D Day. I have always heard the family stories of my Uncle and have been so proud of him. I am so happy I found this site and have printed all the info out for my children and Grandchildren. Jimmy and I were close as kids and I send my love to both Jimmy and Johnny. ox

Vincent
Thank you so much for adopting the grave site of my uncle Frank Vandenberg. Grace Vandenberg in the familly photo is my mother. I remember that she received a V-Mail letter from uncle Frank that arrived before D-Day that included a question for me. He wanted to know my favorite airplane. I told my mother that it was the P 47 Thunderbolt. I don't know if he got the answer.
I would like to know if any of his buddies recall any details of his military service. I believe that my uncle Jake (who gave you much of the family information) did have contact with some members of his unit. I remember D-Day vividly. My school teacher let us spend the whole school day listening to reports on the radio.
Thanks again,
Alex Klooster

It is heart warming to hear the perceptions of those in the county he was fighting for. Thank you. My mom was Dorothy Kested Brown, Harry's youngest sister. Monsieur, bonjour,
Thank you for honoring these young men who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Our father, Henry Gardiner, now 95 years of age was the oldest airman aboard Black Magic. I recall him saying that several men of the crew would call him "Pappy" or "Pops" because he was a few years older.

I wish you a bright and bountiful future and know that your work here will be a blessing to all who encounter it. Keep up the good work!
