Dance to Learn is an arts integration program that approaches core curriculum from a kinesthetic perspective. Houston Ballet staff will work with classroom teachers to create programs that address TEKS in multiple subject areas. Programs will range from 1-6 class sessions and will be tailored to address grade level work and the school's/teacher's needs.
For Elementary School, possible topics include:
~ ELA - Bringing Literature to Life (Pre-K-5th Grade)
~ ELA – Performing Poetry (1st-5th Grades)
~ Science – How WE Move (Pre-K, Kinder, 1st Grade)
~ Science - Various Topics (2nd-5th Grades)
~ Social Studies - Texas Dances (4th Grade)
~ Social Studies - Lindy Hop Into History (5th Grade)
For Middle School and High School, possible topics include:
~ Dance – Various Topics and Techniques (Middle School, High School)
~ ELA - Bringing Literature to Life (6th-8th Grades: English 1-4, Reading)
~ ELA - Dancing Images - Dance and Figurative Language (Middle and High School)
~ Physical Education – Creative Dance (6th-8th)
~ Physical Education – Dance Technique (High School)
~ Science - The Physics of Dance (8th Grade, Physics)
~ Social Studies – Lindy Hop into History (8th and US History)
