Saturday - Dec. 7, 2013 ~ 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.

All SOPHOMORES, JUNIORS, and SENIORS along with PARENTS may attend this program hosted by CORNELL UNIVERSITY. (NOTE: This program has a different focus from last year's "Achieve & Succeed" at Ithaca College.) A goal of the ACE program is to offer students the opportunity to explore a variety of careers. You may not be thinking of a specific area or interested in everything we offer, but our goal is to expand your horizons as you look to Achieve and Succeed. No matter what career you may choose now or in the future, the main focus is to be successful and achieve your goals. If you would like to see firsthand two great schools at Cornell: College of Engineering and School of Hotel Administration, then this is your opportunity. ACE 10th - 12th graders and their parents have a unique opportunity to tour two Cornell University ‘schools’: ~ COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING: There are three broad intellectual areas within the School: Civil Infrastructure, Environment, and Engineering Systems and Management. Engineers have always been problem solvers, but today’s emphasis on collaborative work that transcends traditional departmental boundaries brings together the best minds from across the disciplines with profound results (nanoscience, biomedical engineering, molecular and cellular biology, advanced materials, and information science.) ~ SCHOOL OF HOTEL ADMINISTRATION: The Statler Hotel is the showcase for Cornell’s world-renowned School of Hotel Administration. As a “Teaching Hotel,” it also integrates several courses into hotel operations and provides career-related job experience for students. Learning takes place in state-of-the-art classrooms, in the on campus Statler hotel, and in varied industry settings around the world. *Overview-Description: http://www2.cortland.edu/dotAsset/9b3a0fab-a145-4c66-9d5f-13b94c7a3cf7.pdf *Agenda: http://www2.cortland.edu/dotAsset/20e5c11e-e909-422a-80f2-60e42630c715.pdf Even if you are not interested in attending Cornell, these tours will enable you to ask questions about various careers in Engineering and the Hospitality Industry and get answers from the students’ perspectives.
