MCEEA 2014 Carol Quandt Essay Submission
The Carol Quandt Student Essay Contest was instituted in 1992 to honor the retirement of Carol Quandt from the University of Michigan - Dearborn and her years of dedication to co-op.  Carol Quandt is known for always putting students first. The essay contest is available to all currently enrolled students who are participating in or have completed a co-op/internship assignment through an Institution of Higher Education in Michigan, or have completed a co-op/internship with an employer located in Michigan. Students are provided an essay topic and must submit their essay response to compete in the contest. Essays are evaluated and scored by the MCEEA Awards and Recognition Committee.  A cash prize will be awarded to the first place winner.

All essays must fall between 1,500 and 2,500 words in length. Entries will be evaluated and scored using the following criteria: expresses original ideas; provides examples to the topic; develops a positive theme for the operations of Career Services within a college/university; and demonstrates solid writing mechanics including sentence structure, grammar, spelling, and organization.

For eligibility, students must:
 - Be serving or have served as a college co-op or intern at least one semester/term between May of the previous year and May of the current year.
 - Be a co-op/internship student from a Michigan college/university OR a co-op/internship employee of an employer located in Michigan.

The educator and/or employer will be asked to verify the eligibility of the student's entry if they are selected as the winner.  The educator/employer should maintain a copy of any submitted entry documents for their students until the MCEEA Annual Conference in June.  The educator/employer will be notified if their student has been identified as the essay winner.  Student will be notified once their co-op/internship experience has been verified.
