Position Description

Campus Recreation seeks Group X Fitness Instructors for Campus Recreation Programming beginning August 20, 2012. Applicants assume certain responsibilities, primarily leading exercise classes for the SF State University community. Participants include students, faculty, and staff of varying ages and skill levels. Instructors are required to participate in mandatory in-service training sessions and must participate in regular workshops and evaluations by the Campus Recreation Department.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

-Excellent communication skills: both verbal and written -Knowledge of exercise techniques and the ability to adapt course content to meet the needs of the participants -Knowledge of queuing and group exercise teaching experience -Knowledge of Human Anatomy and Body Mechanics as it applies to group exercise classes -Ability to handle conflict and work independently with little or no supervision -Ability to motivate others to reach their fitness/health goals

Certifications & Experience

Group Exercise or Personal Training Certification Required CPR, AED and First Aid Certification Recommended

Selection Process

Will consist of an application screening with the most qualified candidates being invited to participate in a personal interview. Appointment subject to successful completion of background investigation and skill testing. Teaching demo will be required.
