Good Neighbor is a non-profit corporation that provides companionship through a time of singing, musical concerts and performances, conversation and fellowship to the elderly residents and patients at nursing homes, senior centers and hospitals.The Good Neighbor Ministry began its first service in June of 1999 with one pianist and four volunteers. Today, Good Neighbor hosts over 130 volunteers, 22 pianists, 17 worship leaders and 26 regularly scheduled nursing home visits.

JAC is excited to have launched a partnership with Good Neighbor in September. We have been assigned the Lillian Booth Actor's Fund, right here in Englewood. Each Sunday visit will last from 2:00 to 3:00PM, and will consist of praise, prayer and a short message from the Bible. Volunteers help by singing together with the nursing home residents and helping them turn the pages of the song book. Throughout the year and on special holidays, we will also be holding various mini performances.

We are currently recruiting volunteers to help us on our monthly visits. We need pianists and guitarists to help us lead the worship, as well as volunteers to help us sing with the nursing home residents and be a helping hand during the worship service. We also are looking for anyone who is interested in providing a short performance for the residents--instrumental, vocal, dance, spoken word, you name it! The Actor's Fund Nursing Home is home to entertainment professionals, so we encourage you to use your gifts to minister to the residents!

PLEASE NOTE: You are not required to attend every monthly service, but consistent attendance is encouraged for the sake of building relationships. If you have children, you are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to bring them with you. The residents LOVE to spend time with children!
