On Saturday Dec 14th, Anne Arundel Community College will host a FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) qualifier tournament, “Battle by the Bay”. The FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) is a world-wide robotics program for students from ages 9 to 16. Each year, FLL teams complete a challenge that includes programming a robot to complete a particular course, and doing a project based on that year’s theme. On December 14th, AACC will host 16 teams from Anne Arundel and surrounding counties as they present their robots and projects based on this year’s theme, “Nature’s Fury”. The best teams will advance to the Maryland State FLL tournament.
Last year’s event was a huge success thanks to the many volunteers from the college community. Again this year, Hosting the qualifier tournament provides an opportunity for AACC to showcase our facilities, faculty, staff, and students, while supporting education in our community. We hope you will consider participating in this wonderful event. Volunteers are needed for planning, set-up, tournament judging and refereeing, and much more. Please complete your volunteer registration no later than Monday Nov 25st to make sure you get a “Battle by the Bay” T-shirt in your size.
Volunteers must be at least 13 years old. Volunteers under 18 who are not AACC students must have a parent or responsible adult volunteering at the same time (not necessarily in the save volunteer position).
