12/18 National Call-In Day: Tell the President to Restore Health Care for DREAMers!
In June, the White House announced a new program (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) which helps qualifying DREAMers live and work without fear of deportation. Unfortunately, the Administration DENIED these young people access to federal health insurance programs. This means hundreds of thousands of DREAMers will be able to work and study legally, but will have no options for affordable health insurance. These young people are supporting families and contributing to our communities, and deserve to be treated with dignity. No one should have to live in fear of getting sick or hurt because they don’t have insurance, and no one should have to choose between paying out-of-pocket for prenatal care or cancer screenings and putting food on the table. Insuring healthy young people reduces preventable disease and makes good economic sense, too.

TAKE ACTION! Call the White House at 202-456-1111 or 202-456-1414 between 9 am-5 pm EST on Tuesday, December 18th and tell President Obama that DREAMers deserve the same access to health insurance as other young people. If the phone lines get jammed, send an email through the White House Contact page at: http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact.

WHAT TO SAY: "Hello, my name is [YOUR NAME], I live in [CITY, STATE] and I’m calling to ask the President to restore health care access for DREAMers under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. Discriminating against DREAMers by denying them access to affordable insurance is unfair, bad for our community's health, and endangers our current and future workers, innovators, and leaders. Please reverse the DACA health exception. Thank you."
