The Maine Organization Of Storytelling Enthusiasts meets the 2nd Wed of every month for an Open microphone and a Featured Storytelling Performance.
If you are a moose member interested in being a host you can use this form to submit your request to host, to our  Moose Publicity Committee.

If you can complete this form now please do so.  It is our goal to promote events in seasonal publications and lists, to obtain that goal the more information we receive in advance the better the promotion. We will send a confirmation once you are chosen as a host. If all you have is your information and a date then we will promote you up to 2 months from the chosen event date. Please fill out another form once you have all your Feature's information so we can make local news media deadlines.

As the host you will need to book your featured Storyteller as soon as possible (See hosting duties)  We pay our Featured Storytellers a $100.00 stipend for performing to help defray travel costs.

Title should be appropriate for media outlets digital and print. If a title is  not provided leave please leave this blank and we will use their name as a title for promotional use.
[ 1 ]  Please share a "Hook" lead in sentence. (30 words or less) Describe something that is distinctive about this features storyteller's art, style, and this submitted performance.
This hook will accompany the photo of your feature and lead into their bio.  What makes this performer and event unique from others I have seen? Why should audiences invest the time to see this Artist? Example:  "Calling forth and telling stories that honor the past and delight the present"
[ 2 ] Please describe the program and the target audience for this submitted event. (this information will assist the publicity committee in promoting the program and may or may not be used in PR literture.)

[ 3 ]  Include a Brief Bio. Describe the Featured Storyteller and their career in 3 sentences or less.
This bio will follow the description above in [1] and should include highlights of their story career, other occupations, hobbies and interests that may connect with a grown up audience. Consider  words that may support the theme or title. EXAMPLE: [1-Hook] Jo Radner - "Calling forth and telling stories that honor the past and delight the present" [3-bio ] Folklorist, storyteller, writer, and oral historian, Jo Radner (Lovell, Maine) has been studying, teaching, telling, and collecting stories most of her life. She has helped various immigrant, refugee, and community groups find and collect their stories and fashion them into public presentations. Jo is past president of the American Folklore Society and the National Storytelling Network.

Consider the performers performance style: Chairs, Microphone, props, lighting ~ Consider their comfort: Glass of water, any ADA needs? There is an elevator available. If there are no known needs please type "No" below..
[ 6  ] Please attach a photo of your Featured Storyteller and one of you the host to an email . Put  "Photo: (and their name)" in  the subject line and send to:  moose4events@gmail.com 
All photos must reflect a positive image on Moose and the featured performer.
All pictures must be submitted in JPEG, GIF, or PNG format. The Photo should be 1920 x 1080 or less at it least 150 dpi The maximum file size for an image file is 2MB. Please include your Featured Storyteller's Name & URL or include their e-mail address as the filename of the photo. This makes their photo a digital contact on web searches for images! If there is already a photo posted anywhere on the internet (image search  would work) we can  use that as long as your feature approves of our choice.Example: http://joradner.com/uploads/images/Jo_Radner.gif
If your feature does not have a digital Photo have them contact the Moose Publicity Committee and we can take one at the next meeting.
Responsibilities of Hosts
Easy as 1 - 2 - 3

1.  Choose a date and a Featured performer for your Event.

Within 2 MONTHS of the event date the publicity committee will need the information described below:
Name of feature - Ttitle of program - short synopsis of program - short description of style of teller
short bio - list of set up needs - picture
 2.    Submit information in a timely manner.
 If the information listed on this form is not provided within the 2 month time frame a new host may be chosen. It is to your benefit to send as much information as soon you can when you can. This way we can promote you and your performer in the manner you both deserve.
3      Host The Program on your scheduled night.
6:30       Meet a Moose be at the library by 6:30pm
Have your feature with you or know that they are on the way. Meet the chair arrangements of the feature. Circulate sign-up list-video permission forms for open mic, inform everyone that there is filming and that front row audience may need to sign a release form.

7:00pm   Introduce Open mic participants using the sign up forms at your discretion.

7:55       Announcements inform the audience of next month's host and feature teller along with upcoming events prior to 8:00 pm Snack break. Snack donations are accepted and separate from feature suggested $5 donation both collected at this time.

8:05pm  Introduce feature

8: 55      Closing make sure the performance ends on time.
Remind audience of next month's host and feature teller. (this information warrants repeating. encourage the audience to bring a friend next month)
Inform audience if they wish to visit to do so outside. The library is closed and we need to leave at 9 pm. for housekeeping.
