This program will provide older youth the opportunity to work with 4-H and youth related programs through the Junior Camp Counselor program with the NDSU Extension Service.
Dates: Thursday, June 6, 2013 through Thursday, June 20, 2013. These dates include training dates and camp dates.
Training: Begins 1PM on Thursday, June 6 and work with the Camp Staff beings Sunday, June 9 at 1PM.
Responsibilities: Working under the supervision of Camp Counselor Staff and Camp Chairs, the Junior Camp Counselors will help manage camp programs, develop a camp spirit and motivate campers throughout the week. They will assist with recreational activities, evening programs and campfire activities. The Junior Camp Counselors act as role models, must enjoy working with youth in an outdoor setting, follow directions and abide by all camp rules, policies and procedures.
The Junior Camp Counselor will require working with youth ages 8-15 and assist with 4-H educational programming in a camp setting. Work hours are based on camp needs and while not acting in the capacity of a Junior Camp Counselor will participate in camp activities and educational programming.
Qualifications: Fifteen(15) years old and have an interest in the 4-H camping program and leadership experience.
There are no weekly fees, salary or monetary compensation for being a junior camp counselor, however there is a one-time non-refundable registration fee of $100.
