The enormous 100-meter Green Bank Radio Telescope (GBT) collects radio waves from distant objects such as pulsars. The amount of data is overwhelming. So, high school and middle school students are helping radio astronomers analyze the data! Come to the Radio Astronomy and Pulsars Workshop to learn how radio astronomers are analyzing radio signals to detect pulsars. 8:30 – 9:00 Registration 9:00 – 12:00 Session 1 - Story of Radio Astronomy and the amazing Green Bank Radio Telescope Session 2 - STEM classroom activities to learn about radio waves and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) using Quiet Skies 12:00 – 1:00 Lunch provided by the Stars at Yerkes staff 1:00 – 4:00 Session 3 - Analyze and discuss plots with a radio astronomer, using the data collected from the Green Bank Telescope.
