Skill-Based Workshop Facilitator Call-Out
The skill-based workshops are intended to give participants the skills and confidence to step into new roles as strategizers, trainers, spokespeople, advocates, educators, media liaisons, action organizer, facilitators, and more. The skill-based workshops will also develop participants understanding of strategy, creative action, anti-oppression, and democratic and horizontal organizing.
Participants will register for a skill track based on the type organizer they want to be in their communities (ie. Campaigner, Communicator, Community Organizer, Investigator). Each Skill-Track will have core workshop to develop a foundation of skills and optional workshops that participants can select from.
Workshops will be 1 hour and 15 minutes in length, with a limited number of 2 hour and fourty-five minute slots. Workshops will be sequenced in a logical way that build on each other.
We are looking for both experienced and less-experienced facilitators who are able to deliver workshops that are accessible, engaging and relevant. We have developed a framework for each skill track based on the skills we want participants to develop at PowerShift 2012.
We are looking for facilitators who already have a workshop that fits with the goals and outcomes for the skill track or for facilitators who are willing to develop a workshop specifically for this.
Facilitators must be willing to communicate with the conference organizers in the lead-up to PowerShift 2012 to make sure that the content is in line with the goals and outcomes, to answer questions and to ensure that all the different workshops come together to make a coherent and productive curriculum.
We think this is a great opportunity for you to reach a broad audience, develop your facilitation repertoire and be part of a growing youth movement for climate justice. We really look forward to working with you.
NOTE: By filling in this form you are committing to, if chosen (but hopefully if not as well!) be at PowerShift in Ottawa on the weekend of October 26-29.
