481-W12 Class Feedback
I'm using this form to collect feedback beyond the official Cal Poly instructor evaluation sheets. Participation is voluntary and anonymous, and my intention is to use this information to adjust aspects like class content, the way the content is presented, project topics and organization, guest speakers, etc.
Especially since I changed the content and arrangement of the material this time, I would appreciate your suggestions.

Class Topics
The following questions list the topics as outlined in the class schedule. Please let me know how relevant you found them, and how well they were presented. We did not discuss all of them in detail, and some were grouped together in one lecture or week. If you don't have a recollection of the topic, just leave it unanswered.

Suggestions for Alternative Course Support Tools or Methods
Let me know if you know of or have used other tools that might be suitable. Since Blackboard will be replaced by PolyLearn, I'd like to hear about good ways of using the PolyLearn system
Labs
In the past, I have used lab exercises based on the tutorials for CLIPS and JESS. The following questions are about the us of labs, such as your preferences between labs with mandatory submission and grading, or a voluntary set of tutorials.
Labs or Tutorials?
What are your opinions and preferences concerning the aspects below?
not at all
probably not
indifferent
probably yes
strong yes
Lab exercises are more effective than tutorials for learning tools and languages.
Mandatory labs increase the likelihood that students will do the respective activities.
I prefer optional tutorials where I can decide what to learn and how much time to spend on it.
Since the tutorials are pretty much required to do the homework, we may as well do them as labs and get credit.

Selection of Presentation Topics
Some students have difficulties coming up with their own ideas for topics. What are your preferences?

It is important for me to be able to freely select a topic of my own choice.
It would be nice to have a list of suggested topics, with the option of choosing my own.
I would be comfortable selecting a topic from a list of topics, without the option of picking something else.
An assigned topic would be fine with me.
The option of selecting a presentation date is important for me.
