Complete this form with all information. This will assist us in more efficiently deploying Amateurs to the different locations so no one has to travel too far, unless they want to for other reasons.
JOTA is a two day event.
We are integrated into the Scout “Spook O Ree” on Saturday, October 20th at each location.
The locations are: 1.Camp Flaming Arrow - Lake Wales
2.Camp Brorein - Odessa
3.Dade Battlefield - Bushnell
Saturday, October 20, 2012 is for Cub Scouts only. The Scouts anticipate 1,500 Scouts on Saturday. 300-500 at each of the three locations the Gulf Ridge Council area.
Sunday, October 21, 2012 is at MOSI, Tampa, Florida. No other location will be operating. Sunday all Scouts, Boys and Girls, are welcome. Estimate of 100-300.
Your help is needed. How? We need 20 Amateurs at each location. This is not an exaggeration. There will be little down time unless we have lots of help. Each Amateur Radio Station will need an active operator and backup operator.
Days and Hours
Saturday, October 20, 2012, 9:00 A.M. till 5:00 P.M. Camp Flaming Arrow, Camp Brorein and Dade Battlefield
Sunday, October 21, 2012, 9:00 A.M. till 4:00 P.M. at MOSI.
Plan to arrive 7:15 A.M. so we are ready to begin when the first Scout arrives. As in the past, we will need to have 5 or more stations on the air. HF, Digital (APRS, WinLink2000, D-STAR, RTTY, SSTV, PSK, etc.), Solar, SDR, Satellite/ISS. This will require at least 20 Amateur Radio operators to keep things moving.
You will need antenna, radio, feedline, paper, pens/pencils, camera, computer (logs are necessary for QSLing later), HT, Morse Key, colorful QSL cards, World Map, Small antenna hands on demonstration, Etc. and what ever you normally bring to field Day or portable operations. The Scout Directors tell me the buildings should have electric; however, a demonstration on SOLAR, battery or generator would be an attention getter. <HINT, HINT>
THANK YOU.
