It’s a sure sign that the hunting season is just around the corner. Last week, 2012-13 hunting, fishing and trapping licenses and Deer Management Permits went on sale.
Here in New York State, hunting is more than just a seasonal, recreation activity. In fact, it plays a very important part in our regional economy; as the millions of dollars spend by hunters support local businesses and help to sustain thousands of well-paying, much needed jobs.
That’s why I’m looking to you weigh in on what can be done to support hunting and help grow outdoor recreation in Central and Northern New York.
Last year, an overwhelming number of hunters shared their thoughts on everything from hunting methods to extending the crossbow law. This year, I invited hunters to submit questions so you can find how others feel about your ideas, too. (Thanks to all who submitted questions.)
Your answers to this survey will help make the great hunting opportunities our state offers even better.
Include your contact information, so I can share the results of this survey as well as any news affecting sportsmen in New York State.
Best wishes for a successful -- and SAFE -- 2012 season!
