SWC Cats2Cats Peer Financial Counselor Application

SWC Financial provides free and confidential financial information and resources to University of Cincinnati students. Cats2Cats Peer Financial Counselors offer unbiased and knowledgeable financial education to other UC students, while at the same time gaining valuable experience for their future. Training for new counselors occurs at the beginning of each semester, and new counselors shadow returning counselors until they feel comfortable enough to take on appointments of their own. PFCs are asked to commit to volunteer for three hours per week during the semester. The hours can be flexible and easily adjusted and include work such as counseling appointments, developing and facilitating programs and awareness events, attending trainings & meetings, marketing, promotion, and social media efforts, etc. It is highly preferred but not mandatory that counselors commit to serving for a minimum of two semesters. Eligibility requirements are as follows: - Completion of the SWC Financial training program upon acceptance - Interest in educating others about personal money management - Strong communication and presentation skills - Previous related course completion preferred Responsibilities of Cats2Cats Peer Financial Counselors - Provide presentations to UC classes and student organizations on personal finance topics - Provide financial counseling for peer clients - Recommend alternatives and solutions to help students with their personal finances - Provide our services to individuals and couples - Provide follow-up with clients to monitor their progress - Attend bi-weekly team meetings, training sessions, and retreats - Earn at least the minimum participation points per semester Benefits of volunteering for SWC Financial - Ability to educate and positively impact your peers - Master extensive financial information relevant to your own life - Be recognized as a leader by your peers and the UC community - Develop important skills, including facilitation and communication - Have direct involvement, a voice, and some control in programs’ design and operation - Obtain experience relevant to your future career Application Submit the following application items to the contact below: _____ Completed application form _____ Completed availability form _____ Updated resume Process Students will be notified of their application status by email and will go through an interview process.
