A high level of momentum has taken place over the last couple of months with the Administration’s most recent announcement on deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA), but we must not forget that this is not the only positive announcement that has been made this year by the Administration in an attempt to find solutions to our impracticable immigration system.
As many of you might recall, and some are eagerly waiting, earlier this year, the Obama Administration announced changes to the family unity waiver (I-601 Provisional Waiver) process. This change would help keep families together by reducing the time that U.S. citizens are separated from immediate relatives. This change is an important step going forward to keep families together at a time when deportations are at an all-time high and citizen children of undocumented parents are being put into the foster care system as a result of their parents losing parental rights due to detention or deportation.
Please join the Interfaith Immigration Coalition on Monday, September 10th from 4:00- 5:00 PM EDT for an exclusive webinar that will provide an update on where the waiver process stands and ways in which congregations can continue to be engaged with this issue that affects millions of families in our communities. We will be joined by legal experts and those working in the faith community to support such positive developments within our immigration system.
This webinar will include a visual portion. The address will be provided on the morning of the call once you RSVP. There is a call-in option as well:
