University Writing Reading Group Registration
Registration will be first-come, first-served for students in any UW section.

Are you wondering what a specific paragraph is about? What does that sentence mean? How could you turn your confusion or opinion about a text into the beginning of an essay? The reading group is not a substitute or supplement to your UW class, but an opportunity to learn and practice reading skills you can use in all of your courses as springboards to your writing. The group members will draw on each other’s collective knowledge and questions to help each individual develop a unique understanding or interpretation of the text. Students will engage with each others’ ideas about the texts they are currently reading in UW.

Groups must have a minimum of three and can have a maximum of six members. All members must be from the same UW class. Groups will be facilitated for three consecutive weeks and learn skills to continue meeting independently if they choose.
