ArtsConnection presents the Teen Reviewers and Critics (TRaC) Program.
Recognized in 2011 & 2012 as a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award Finalist, the Teen Reviewers and Critics (TRaC) Program is a FREE out-of-school opportunity for teens to explore the arts in NYC. Participants spend each term attending cutting-edge theater, dance and music performances; visiting artist studios, galleries, and museums; mastering NYC's subway system; learning the art of discussion and critical writing; AND so much more!
This summer, we're proud to present a special edition of TRaC that focuses on the theme "MAP FREE CITY." This year's Summer TRaC is a special 4-week intensive where a group of 14-16 students will explore the arts world of NYC within the scope of free arts and cultural events in different neighborhoods all over the 5 boroughs. Participants will attend events and performances in the visual and performing arts; meet professional artists, performers, and writers; navigate NYC; critically respond to art; and work together to produce a final project that documents the group's arts-going summer journey.

➢ Who is eligible to apply to Summer TRaC?
Summer TRaC is open to high school students (entering 10th - graduating 12th grades) in NY and NJ who can commit to attending workshops 3 days a week and possible additional events/outings. Parents must be comfortable with participants traveling around the 5 boroughs with program staff.
➢ When does Summer TRaC happen?
Summer TRaC 2013 will take place from July 9 - August 1 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons from 2-5pm (possibly ending later on event/outing days).
➢ What in the world is a "TRaC?"
While applicants who apply to our Fall and Spring programs are invited to choose between 6 different TRaC sections depending on their interests (DANCE, FILM, MULTI-ARTS, MUSIC, THEATER, VISUAL ARTS), Summer TRaC offers the best of all worlds with exposure to ALL forms of art while focusing on the variety of high quality free arts events in NYC during the summer.
➢ Sounds awesome! What do I need to participate in TRaC?
TRaC is a FREE program. All you need is a metrocard to get around (at least 2 daily fares) and internet access to keep up with schedule updates.
➢ I have all of those things! I'm ready to apply. What happens next?
Applications are due FRIDAY, JUNE 7. After you complete your application, you will be contacted for a small group interview in June. You will be notified about acceptance to the program by MONDAY, JUNE 17. Summer TRaC begins TUESDAY, JULY 9. Can't wait to see you there!
