What is the hero's name? What words can describe the hero, such as "brave", "courageous", "honest", etc.?
Did your hero have an unusual birth? *
Oftentimes there are unusual circumstances surrounding the birth of the hero, such as being born to a god, being born to royalty, being born into danger. Describe the unusual situation your hero was born into.
What as your hero's call to adventure? *
Heroes are called to leave home at some point. They are called to begin their journey. Describe your hero's call to adventure.
Does your hero have a supernatural helper? *
Often the hero is helped by someone, often older and wiser and with a magical power. This figure serves as a guide and mentor as the hero sets out. Who is your hero's helper or mentor?
What is your hero's talisman or special weapon? *
The hero often has a weapon or protective device given that will be useful on the journey. Describe your hero's special weapon or talisman.
When does your hero cross the threshold? *
At some point, the hero must leave the familiar, safe world of childhood and home and enter fully into the new world of the journey. Describe this crossing of the threshold of your hero.
What are your hero's trials? *
The hero has to succeed at a series of trials that challenge and build his/her moral strength and character. Often one of these trials involves a descent into the underworld where the hero experiences a wound that cannot be healed. Describe your hero's trials and tribulations.
How does your hero achieve his/her goals? *
Upon successful completion of the trials, the hero achieves the ultimate goal of the journey. Describe how and when your hero achieves this goal.
Does your hero reconcile with his/her father-figure? *
Often there will be a conflict with the hero's father or father-figure; if so, healing with the father occurs as part of the hero's journey. If applicable, describe this healing.
What does the hero bring home? *
The hero must again cross the threshold and return home, bringing something valuable back to the community. Describe what your hero brings upon his/her return home.
