In past election cycles, People For the American Way Foundation’s field programs have centered their GOTV efforts around a campaign called Arrive with Five, which encouraged youth, people of color, women, senior and disabled citizens to become active participants in the electoral process. Arrive with Five asked voters to not only pledge to vote on Election Day, but to also provide the names and contact information of five people they knew and were committed to bringing to the polls. YP4 will adopt the Arrive with Five (AW5) model in our GOTV organizing. For the 2012 elections, PFAW Foundation will be revisiting this program by distributing Arrive With Five-type pledge cards when registering both college-based youth and community-based low-income, LGBTQ, and youth of color. Through the AW5 program, these citizens will be educated on the elections process, motivated to get registered to vote and mobilized to cast their votes in the general election in 2012.
