2012-2013 Community Attendant (CA) Position Description

The CA position is a position, which is an academic year appointment starting and ending on dates determined by your supervisor. The CA hours are from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and 2:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday through Sunday. During these hours of operation, CAs are the first point of contact for all people who visit the Regents lounge and attain services. CAs are expected to assign priority to their CA position over all other non-academic activities unless otherwise specified. Continued employment is dependent on satisfactory performance of the duties outlined below: CAs are required to assist with the following Regents Lounge tasks: 1. The CA staff will supervise an open lounge for the students of Regents Park. They will be in charge of monitoring who uses the TV and the Kitchen, to ensure the facilities are left in the same condition as the start of each resident’s usage. CAs will also be in charge of reporting any damages. 2. The CA staff will supervise the Regents Park game room. The sign in and out of game equipment is will assist in monitoring and tracking who utilizes the space. CAs will be responsible to make sure all equipment is returned, and report any damages to the Resident Director of Regents Park and Park River. 3. At the end of each day, the CA staff will be responsible for locking all spaces and securing all moveable equipment. 4. CAs will take a biweekly inventory of all kitchen supplies and game room supplies. 5. Respond to all questions and concerns in a professional and polite manner from residential students and/or parents regarding residential living in Regents Park. Direct all inquiries to the appropriate person of contact when needed. CAs are responsible for adhering to the CA job description as well as the Source (Student Handbook), and all Residential Life policies set fourth in the University Housing Agreement. Additionally, CAs are expected to act as role models and should practice ethical behavior and decision making at all times; especially when working in the Resident Lounge for Regents Park. CAs must accept any other related responsibilities and expectations that are assigned by the Resident Director of Regents Park and Park River. Please note that these are the minimum requirements expected of a CA. CAs work as a team, and rely on one another in order to achieve their common goal of making the resident lounge for Regents Park a better place to live.
