Bursary Application Form
The Otesha Project is committed to making its bike tours accessible to all. Therefore we offer bursaries based on financial need to assist tour members who are unable to raise their full project contribution. This money is drawn from funds raised through our network of generous donors and partners.

The application form below cannot be saved and returned to, so set aside 15 minutes to complete it all in one go!

Bursary recipients must fundraise the difference between the bursary amount and the minimum project contribution for their tour. Our comprehensive fundraising guide is the first place you should look for answers and advice - check it out at www.otesha.ca on the Bike Tours 101 page. If you have further questions after reading the guide, we are here to strategize with you and act as a sounding board for your fundraising ideas.  In the nifty text box below, describe your fundraising plan.
What obstacles do you face to fundraising the minimum project contribution? *
What other costs do you anticipate?
Estimate the costs such as a road-ready bicycle, gear, transportation to and from the program etc.
Post-tour action *
How will you connect your Otesha experience with your own community after your tour is over?  What will you bring back from the road? You can list organizations you will offer a presentation to, describe your ideas for sustainability initiatives in your own community, name ways that you are interested in staying involved in Otesha, etc.
Apply to a bursary
You may apply to any or all of the Andrew Wolf Memorial Bursary or the Cliff Pilkey Changemaker Bursary. However, you will likely only receive funds from one of the bursaries.
Andrew Wolf Memorial Bursary
After Andrew Wolf's tragic passing during the 2010 Highlands and Islands Tour, his family initiated a bursary in his name in order to make Otesha programs more accessible. Each year the Awarding Committee selects one or more applicants who face economic hardship and reduces that person's fundraising target by up to 80%. See the Bursaries webpage at www.otesha.ca for more information.

Diversity
What underrepresented background or perspective will you bring to a bike tour? E.g. are you an Aboriginal person, or a newcomer to Canada? Do you live rurally or in the north? What unique perspective on sustainability will you bring to the project?
How much assistance are you requesting?
Cliff Pilkey Changemaker Bursary
Cliff Pilkey was a union leader with Unifor who worked for social justice causes. To pay tribute to this dedicated union leader, and the just world that he believed in, Unifor has made funding from their Social Justice Fund available to increase the accessibility of tours for changemakers who face economic barriers. This bursary is available to multiple applicants and may be used to reduce fundraising targets by up to 80%. See the Bursaries webpage at www.otesha.ca for more information.
