Theta Delta Chi MIT Earth Week barnraising
HEET is hosting an energy upgrade work party at an MIT fraternity house.
Among other ills, they are victims of the typical dorm/rental housing plague of uncontrollable steam heat leading to windows open all winter. We're going to change that. They've done a great job of installing efficient lighting, but could definitely use our help to lower their energy bills further.
Saturday, May 11th
12:30pm - 5pm
(see confirmation of your RSVP for address)
******We need team leaders!!!
Here are the activities split up by team:
--Install gaskets under light switch and electrical outlets and tape up prompts about how to use steam valves on radiators and windows (no skills needed)
--Change computer settings to hibernate and calculate energy use of ACs and heaters (at MIT, no skills needed)
--Weatherize doors (experienced carpenter person)
--Weatherize windows (basic skill level)
--Install faucet aerators, showerheads and lightbulbs (basic skill level)
--Fix fireplace dampers (experienced contractor, probably HEET's Jason can do)
