From Tunnel to Tee: A Taste of the Bay Area Ridge Trail - Sunday, October 5
Join Bob Siegel of the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council, to celebrate both the month of Walktober, and the 25th Anniversary of the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council.
The Bay Area Ridge Trail is 350 miles long presently, but once its gaps are filled, it will be a 550-mile loop, stretching from Gilroy in the south, to Calistoga in the north, and connecting residents of nine Bay Area counties to the natural habitats being preserved as the trail expands.
While hikers and bikers frequent the Trail as it follows the ridge lines high above San Francisco Bay, most are not as familiar with the Bay Area Ridge Trail's 13-mile path through San Francisco.
October's walk starts at West Portal Tunnel and follows the Ridge Trail through the West Portal neighborhood to Stern Grove, where there will be a stop at the historic Trocadero Inn. From Stern Grove, the walk will continue past Pine Lake, down Sunset Blvd. and eventually to the intersection of Lake Merced Blvd. and Harding Rd. where the walk will end.
Walkers then have the option of an additional ten-minute walk to the Harding Park golf course, for lunch and beer at the Cyprus Grill.
