The Hammer: Exploratory Survey
So you've seen The Hammer (
) and you're interested in buying one of your own. I'd like to collect information from folks who are interested to help me decide where to go with this project from here.
Your email address:
In order to follow up with you about The Hammer, I'd like to collect your email address. The only thing I will use it for is contacting you about The Hammer: either product announcements or potentially follow-up surveys.
Would you be interested in buying a prototype version of The Hammer?
Currently, The Hammer is a prototype -- there are wires hanging out, the sensors don't work as well as I'd like them to, and I have no idea how durable it would be under real-world use. I'm not sure whether or not I will be building a commercial version of this toy. But if you really want one, I might be able to produce a few additional prototypes for sale.
Yes: I'd pay $500 or more to get a prototype.
Yes: I'd pay $200-$300 for a prototype.
Yes: I'd like to have a prototype, but I'd only be willing to pay $100 or less.
No: I want something that's more reliable and doesn't have all those wires.
Would you be interested in buying a consumer-grade version of The Hammer?
I don't know whether or not I would be able to invest the time, money, and engineering effort to making this happen, but I'd like to get a sense of what people want.

No: The Hammer is cool, but I probably wouldn't buy one.
Are you interested in being able to write your own software or apps for The Hammer?
I plan to publish all of my code and software interfaces, and I'm curious what people would like to do with The Hammer.
I'm interested in Arduino programming.
I'm interested in writing Android apps for it.
I'm interested in writing iOS apps for it.
No, I'm not interested in writing software for it.
For the next version of The Hammer, what do you think is the single most important feature to include?
If I continue with the project, I need to prioritize features. Which of these is most important to you?
Get rid of the wires -- it should be one solid piece.
Add Bluetooth connectivity so it can talk to smart phones.
Add a vibrator in the bulb.
Add a vibrator in the shaft.
If you have other questions or comments about The Hammer as a product, please feel free to include them here. I can't promise I'll be able to answer everyone individually, but I'll read all comments and respond as best I can.
