Interpreting Slavery in History Museums
My name is Marissa Parlock, and I am an undergraduate anthropology student at St. Mary's College of Maryland.  I am putting together a Senior project regarding the interpretation of slavery in history museums. I am inviting you to fill out this survey to aid in my research.

I became interested in this topic last year when I interned at a history museum, where I interpreted an indentured servant in first person. The internship made a strong impact on me, and made me think about the challenges of interpreting slavery and class in today's society. To that end, I am conducting my research about the opportunities and difficulties faced by history museums in interpreting slavery to the general public.

The survey should last no longer than 20 mins. Your participation in this survey is strictly voluntary. You may elect to skip any question at any time by leaving it blank. Further, you may choose not to leave any identifying information and remain anonymous.

Note: Please answer even if your museum does not interpret slavery at this time. Your input is still greatly appreciated.

If you would like to discuss this research further, please contact me (mlparlock@smcm.edu) or Julia King, Professor of Anthropology at St. Mary's College of Maryland (jking@smcm.edu)
