North Texas Team in Training Coaching Application

Thank you for expressing interest in coaching for Team in Training in North Texas Chapter during the upcoming year. As a coach, you are essential to the successful training of participants who help raise funds for our mission. Please read and complete this online form no later than close of business on June 1st. Your application will be reviewed by the Coaching Committee, and an assessment will be made on how many coaches we will need for the upcoming year and what training areas need support. All coaches will be selected on the following metrics: 25% - TNT Staff Recommendation 25% - "Good to Great" Rating from Participant Surveys 25% - TNT Coaches Committee Recommendation 25% - TNT Executive Committee Recommendation As a coach, you will coordinate and/or lead all team training events with a minimum of four coach led training events per month, including: Working with the Team In Training Staff to insure the successful organization of the TEAM Attending trainings and maintaining current CPR/First Aid certification and certifications as required by your sport/event Be responsible for recruiting and retaining participants for the TEAM, including participation at grassroots marketing events, choose all training courses, and secure all permits, as necessary Provide clear route maps to all participants and mark the course as necessary Help in the selection of Mentors and Team Captains Introduce Mentors and Staff when present Establish sufficient water stop locations as determined in your coaching contract Begin training meetings with TEAM and Mission Moment announcements Work with the TNT Staff to send important announcements in a weekly E-mail. Ensure all participants are supported throughout each training and finish safely Provide for an emergency plan at all training sessions and communicate this plan to the participants. Bring a first aid kit and cell phone to all sessions. If your TEAM is involved in bicycling, ensure that all bikers have and are wearing appropriate head protection (helmets) during TNT rides. Recruit speakers for training clinics to be held in conjunction with team training or at team meetings, on such topics as; nutrition, injury prevention, shoe/equipment selection, strength training, sports psychology, etc. Provide staff with a coaches weekly update Be available during the week by phone, voice mail, or e-mail to answer training related questions (within 24 hours). Participate in recruitment meetings, kick-off meetings, quarterly coaches meetings and other TNT activities. Coaches must speak at a minimum of 2 recruitment meetings. Attendance at Kick Off and Leadership boot camp is mandatory. As assigned, attend the TNT event weekend, assisting staff as necessary during events(s) weekend and ensuring all team members finish the event safely and are accounted for at the end of the day. In this role, coaches are prohibited from participating in the event other than to be on the course supporting the participants. All coaches are hired as independent contractors for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training Training/Fundraising – In recognition of the time and commitment as a coach, you will be compensated per completer. We will also give you a stipend for your cell phone use. As a coach, we feel it is important you remain connected to the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Therefore, each active coach is strongly encouraged to successfully complete a minimum of one fundraising event within the same year of coaching application. Coaches are extended one special rate for your fundraising commitment for a season, this special rate can be used until one calendar year beyond the coaching season.
