California Asian & Pacific Islander Policy Summit:  Call for Skills & Strategy Workshops
The 2012 California Asian Pacific Islander Policy Summit's workshop proposals must move our communities to a higher level of advocacy.  Summit Conveners and Track Chairs will only consider proposals that demonstrate how participants will be better equipped with concrete advocacy skills.  Priority will also be given to proposals that strengthen each participant's ability to strategically impact local, state, and federal public policy.

In addition to the required skills-building, we are looking for workshops that will:

     * Reflect the diversity of the Asian American, Native  Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) community, including race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, language and geography.

     * Utilize current issues impacting the AA and NHPI community, including representation from a wide array of disciplines, fields, populations, and sectors as a means of teaching or facilitating specific skills.

     * Employ innovative training methods, including using audio-visual aids, small group discussions, mock trainings, role playing, and other “hands-on” project formats.

If your organization would like to facilitate a workshop at the California Asian Pacific Islander Policy Summit on the morning or afternoon of April 30th, please complete the following form.  Workshop sessions should be no longer than two hours.

Workshop proposals are due by January 27, 2012.  You will be notified via email on whether your workshop has been selected during the week of February 6th, 2012.  All selected workshop facilitators will receive complimentary conference registration.
