The official 2012-2014 election for the IHE PCD Planning Co-Chair and Technical Committee Co-Chairs has opened effective August 2, 2012 and will close on August 16, 2012, 11:59pm CT. PCD Planning Committee members and Technical Committee members can cast your vote below for the open position in the Patient Care Devices (PCD) Domains. View the Candidate Biography below and determine your organization’s choice to approve the nominated candidate or to abstain from this vote.

Candidate Biography
Monroe Pattillo, Philips Co.

Monroe Pattillo is with Philips Healthcare IntelliSpace Event Management, formerly Emergin, in Boca Raton, FL, as Product Manager for Interoperability and Input and Output Integrations.  He was the sole Emergin supportive participant for ACM profile AM actor in four successful IHE NA Connectathons and HIMSS Showcases, and multiple AAMI PCD only Showcases.  He is the lead author for IHE ACM profile and the Co-Chair of ACM WG.  Previously, Mr. Pattillo worked with Stryker Imaging, formerly eTrauma, working on their OfficePACS solution for private Orthopaedic hospitals, in product management and software engineering roles, with both HL7 and DICOM.  He is a founder of Telematics International, an access and network data communications switching solutions provider to major telecoms in Fort Lauderdale, FL, which was acquired by ECI Telecom.  He was also with Modular Computer Systems MODCOMP, formerly a producer of real time industrial processing control minicomputer systems hardware and operating software used by a variety of industries and government, where he worked in software development for both their operating systems and diagnostic applications.  Over his career, he has held positions as a product manager, senior software manager, software technical manager, software development engineer, and software maintenance engineer. Mr. Pattillo Graduated with a BS in Computer Systems from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL.

Candidate Biography
John Garguilo, NIST

John J. Garguilo is a computer scientist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) of the United States Department of Commerce within the Software and Systems Division of the Information Technology Laboratory.  John leads the Semantic Interoperability of Medical Devices (SIMD) project within the Pervasive Computing program.  He currently directs the SIMD medical device communication research and testing work focused on enabling the adoption of medical device communication standards by acute, point-of-care, and personal health medical device manufacturers.

John’s focus over the past six years, with the past two years serving as the IHE-Patient Care Devices (PCD) Technical Committee Co-chair, has been on developing conformance test tooling in support of standardization (HL7 V2 and ISO/IEEE 11073) of medical device information exchange and working with device standard and Standards Development Organizations.  His work includes adoption of standards for medical device communications throughout the healthcare enterprise as well as integrating it into the electronic health record.  John works and is closely engaged with medical device experts within the IHE-PCD domain and ISO/IEEE Healthcare Devices and Personal Health Devices working groups.

John holds a Master’s degree from the Johns Hopkins University and Undergraduate degree from the State University of New York, Potsdam, both in computer science.  John has extensive experience over the past 25+ years working on and managing software systems to support testing, automating work flow applications, data communications, and electronic commerce.
