Open Streets Volunteering—Minnehaha Ave, August 11th, 2013, 10:00am-4pm
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Open Streets Minneapolis 2013 on Minnehaha Avenue on Sunday, August 11th!  Please fill out this form to register as a volunteer. All volunteers receive an Open Streets t-shirt and an invite to the Volunteer Appreciation Party!

All volunteers will meet up with your crew at your volunteer time (please arrive 30 minutes early for on-site training) at the Open Streets Volunteer Tent.

It's fun to volunteer with friends!  Let your friends, family, and colleagues know about volunteering and come together as a team!  Please remember to mention the names and number of individuals you would like to be paired up with in the Notes Section at the bottom of the page.

If you have any questions about Open Streets volunteering, you can email us at volunteer@mplsbike.org or give us a call at 612-868-8743

If you'd like to request a specific shift, please select from the following options below.
You may choose multiple shifts as long as they don't overlap.  Thanks!
Street Monitors (70 total needed)
To keep the street “open” we need to keep cars off the street during the event.  Volunteers are needed at most intersections to set up the barricades (first shift only), take down the barricades (last shift only), and make sure no cars turn onto Minnehaha Avenue while the street is closed (ALL Shifts).  You will also receive chalk during your shift.  Please help engage guests by adding creative drawings to your intersection and asking event-goers to help out!  This is a fun way to volunteer with a friend and engage passerby.
Roving Ambassadors (30 total needed)
Do you like to ride your bike and give high-fives?  If so, then the Roving Ambassador is the position is for you!  We need volunteers willing to be a representative of the event by greeting guests and administering surveys throughout the day. Whether it be asking folks to tweet about their experience, or riding around on your bike with Open Streets signs, we would love to have you on board.  Very enthusiastic people are also needed to direct Open Streets goers to bathrooms, specific events, and garbage receptacles.
Set-up/Break Down Crew (12 needed total)
These shifts take place before AND after the event.  If you sign up for the 9:45am shift you will help set up the volunteer tent and place barricades on designated streets before the event begins.  If you sign up for the 3:45pm shift you will help break down the volunteer booth and remove barricades when the event ends.   We would love for you to sign up for BOTH shifts, but we understand that it can get to be a very long day.  Bring your bike to make barricade set-up and breakdown even easier.
After Event Clean Up Crew (12 needed total)
We want to leave a good impression in the neighborhood and leave no traces behind of the fun had during the event.  Volunteers are needed to help pick up the garbage along the route at the end of the event.  Don't worry, gloves and bags are provided. Volunteers with bike trailers are encouraged to sign up!
Street Painters (12 needed total)
This Shift has now been deleted.  Please see Street Monitor positions for chalking.  Thanks!
Roving Photographers (10 desired total)
Are you a professional or aspiring professional photographer with your own camera? We are looking for volunteers with photography skills to capture images from the event. While anyone can and should take photos to document the event, we would love to know who will be out and when. If you plan on taking photos and are willing to share, please consider signing up as a volunteer. The top 5 photos will be featured on the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition and Open Streets websites.
Mystery Shift
You must be available anytime between 10:00am and 4:30pm.  You are the hero for the day that will fill in for those folks who do not show up for their volunteer shift.  No need to complete any of the following specific volunteer shift preferences. You are so flexible!
I can bring a team of volunteers!
If so, approximately how many extra people will be on your volunteer team?
Optional Notes
If you'd like to share a volunteer shift with someone, let us know who so we can put you together.  Thanks for volunteering!
