Navesink Elementary Students who are new to band or are switching instruments entering 4th or 5th Grade in 2012 only.  

Sign-up is on a first come, first serve basis.  In order to ensure that there is a balanced band and that an optimal learning environment is created, there are a limited number of slots for each instrument.

You will receive a confirmation email when you have filled out the form correctly and another one from me when I have confirmed your future musician's instrument assignment for Fall 2012.  At that point, I will include instructions on what is needed to participate including how and where to get an instrument as well as advice for borrowing one from a friend or relative.  

If your child has indicated that a current band member was influential in helping them come to a decision about playing, please indicate that child's name as well on the form so I may reward their helpfulness.  

Reassure your child that students enrolled in the program may switch instruments at a later date if their primary choice is taken.  Skills that are taught this first year are primarily perseverance, practice, and commitment.  Playing an instrument and learning how to read music come only after these skills are consistently applied to the concepts taught in class.
