Art
The Department of Art offers studio degrees in Painting and Drawing, Graphic Design, Photography and Media Art, and 3D. We also offer a BS in Art Education, and a BA in Art for the generalist. Art courses provide opportunities to explore creativity, develop skills, learn about the history of art and become more critically engaged in the world. We provide an atmosphere of support and mentorship as students learn to master a variety of art forms, articulate their ideas carefully, and solve complex problems. Ultimately our graduates are well prepared to enter into a competitive yet deeply rewarding profession.

The BA in Art Studio is intended for a non-practicing studio artist seeking a career in an arts-related field. The BS in Art Education is intended for those who wish to teach art at the K-12 level. The BFA in Studio is intended for those who wish to pursue a professional career as practicing studio artists. Which degree program best fits your intended career path?
Clear selection
The Art department offers four studio concentrations within the BFA degree in studio: Painting and Drawing, 3D, Graphic Design, and Photography and Media Art. If you are interested in the BFA degree in studio, which of the following concentration areas best fits your studio interest?
Clear selection
Students seeking the BS or the BFA degrees are admitted into the department as pre-art majors. Acceptance into the BS or BFA programs is contingent upon passing the department’s sophomore-level portfolio review that takes place in the second semester of the sophomore year. The department maintains high standards for entry into its BS and BFA programs, and also faces capacity issues specific to each studio area. Students who are admitted to the program as pre-art majors are not guaranteed admission into the department’s BS and/or BFA programs. Please indicate that you have read and understood the department’s policy for admission. (You may visit the on-line catalog for more information regarding admissions and the department’s Sophomore Portfolio review.)
