These are the ultimate pre-orientation programs! You can find information about each trip below, or you can click this link (http://www.widener.edu/campus_life/orientation/preorientation/default.aspx) to read more about each program.
Project Lead-- (August 16th- August 20th) -- $150 (CLOSED to freshmen UNLESS you are in the Class of 2017 Presidential Service Corps/Bonner Leader program. All other spots have been filled.)
The Project Lead Pre-Orientation program jump-starts Widener students’ leadership development in a fun and transformational way. During the five-day program students will learn the practices of effective leadership and understand how to promote sustainable positive change on a local and global level. Project Lead participants will engage in fun, hands-on leadership development activities, spend a day in Philadelphia learning about the leadership practices of our country’s founders, and serve members of our community at a local non-profit organization.
Summit Widener-- (August 16th- August 20th) -- $150
Outdoor Adventure Club (OAC) leaders guide students on a multi-day backpacking trip leading to new friends and skills to succeed as a member of the Pride. While hiking the Appalachian Trail, OAC leaders will help with all the needs of successful completing this adventure! Each year students reflect on the self-confidence this trip built and carried through their freshman year. Completing Summit Widener can fulfill 1/2 of your Physical Education requirement to graduate from Widener.
And don't worry, some of the people going have never been backpacking. Camp out, make friends, and accomplish more than a physical challenge with your new Widener friends!
The 1821 Experience-- (August 17th- August 21st) -- $150 (ONLY TWO openings remain as of 6/25/2013 -- Register NOW if you are interested!)
Students explore how multiculturalism adds to the Widener experience and helps students connect to both the campus community and each other with this program lead by The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA).
Students attending The 1821 Experience Pre-Orientation Program will participate in a "cultural immersion" experience specifically designed to expose them to cultural differences. Students will be encouraged to reflect on what they have learned. Participants in the The 1821 Experience also establish peer support networks that assist them with the transition to college life. Students will have an opportunity to become acquainted with the Chester campus, meet new friends, and gain skills to succeed at Widener.
