Call For Participants: GEFCom2012
Dear Colleagues,

IEEE Working Group on Energy Forecasting is organizing the Global Energy Forecasting Competition 2012 (GEFCom2012):
Why - we are trying to improve the forecasting practice of the utility industry. This competition will bring together the state-of-the-art techniques for energy forecasting, serve as the bridge to connect academic research and industry practice, promote analytics in power engineering education, and prepare the industry to overcome forecasting challenges in the smart grid world.
When - we plan to launch this competition in fall of 2012.
What - there are two tracks being scheduled: load forecasting and wind forecasting.
Where - we will host the first round of the competition on www.Kaggle.com. Then selected entries will be invited to IEEE PES General Meeting 2013 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to present their methodologies and results.
How - The final winners will be determined by the award committee based on forecasting accuracy, documentation, reproducibility, etc.
If you are interested in this event, please fill the survey and help us forward this survey to your colleagues or students in energy forecasting area.
For questions, please contact Dr. Tao Hong (hongtao01@gmail.com).

Best Regards,
Tao Hong, PhD
Chair, IEEE Working Group on Energy Forecasting
