"Scrubs" Rally -- Health Providers for Paid Sick Days in NYC
1.5 million workers in New York City do not get a single paid sick day to care for themselves or a sick child. Many workers are forced to go to work sick because they risk losing their jobs. Others are forced to send their children to school, potentially infecting other students, because they simply cannot afford either childcare or to lose a day’s pay.
Yet opponents of the bill in New York that would provide nearly every worker with a means to earn sick days over the course of year are claiming, "We do not see it as a public health issue."
Join doctors, nurses, medical students and health professionals from across the city at a special rally to demand better for our patients.
