Thank you for your interest in "Shaping the Future: Careers in STEM Education,"
a FREE public event for high school students, organized by the IIT Boeing Scholars Academy. Register below, and we'll see you on Tuesday, April 2, 6-8pm, at IIT!
As the national need for engineers, computer scientists, and other STEM professionals grows, so too does the need for innovation and excellence in STEM education. While K-12 teachers fulfill an essential role in introducing students to math and science in school, STEM educators can come in many forms -- university professors, after school and summer program providers, policy makers, and curriculum writers, just to name a few. At our "Shaping the Future: Careers in STEM Education"
event, hear from four inspiring individuals who have each taken a very different path to their very different work in STEM education. Featured speakers include:
, Executive Director and Co-Founder, Project S.Y.N.C.E.R.E.
, Founder and Executive Director, The scienceFIST Foundation; Coordinator of Math, Science, and Instructional Technology at School District U-46
, Vice President of Education, The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum
Judith Zawojewski, PhD
, Associate Professor Emerita, Illinois Institute of Technology; Senior Curriculum Designer, University of Chicago
The event will conclude with a moderated panel discussion and a reception at which attending students can mingle with speakers. Students considering a career in a STEM area and/or education are strongly encouraged to attend.
