The CSUN eText initiative is intended to help faculty create or assemble their own digital teaching materials in order to increase student engagement, publish customized content for classes, reduce textbook costs, and bring revenues back to departments.
Funds will be awarded based on the goals and comprehensiveness of the proposed materials, the number of number of students served, and the project's alignment with curricular goals.
Royalties (part or all) from materials sold to CSUN students must return to Departments or Colleges in order to prevent conflict of interest. However, faculty retain copyright to any materials they author and can recoup all royalties from materials sold to students beyond CSUN.
