The 2nd Annual Community Builders Network Awards Reception is looking for nominations. The reception is designed to recognize individuals, organizations, public institutions, and companies that are helping to build strong communities in the St. Louis region.

Banking- The banking award recognizes an individual or an organization who: 1) gets involved beyond traditional lending in community building activities and is creative in how they support community building (Example: serving on organization boards); 2) provides direct support to community building organizations; 3) has a strong community presence; and 4) demonstrates a deep understanding of the sector and a willingness to accept more risk.

Philanthropy- The philanthropic award recognizes an individual or organization who: 1) supports community building through bringing investment and resources to places’ human or physical dimensions; 2) supports long term commitments to neighborhoods; 3) demonstrates creative thinking in how to support communities and gets involved beyond traditional grant giving; 4) provides operational funding to community building nonprofits.

Public Sector-The public sector award recognizes an individual, government or quasi-government department/agency, or tax supported entity who: 1) develops or protects policy that supports investment in communities; 2) demonstrates innovative use of resources for community improvement; and 3) is proactive, persistent, professional and efficient in finding ways to support community building initiatives.

Business- The business award recognizes an individual or business who: 1) acts as an anchor institution for communities through investment, providing employment, or remaining committed to staying in communities needing economic activity; 2) involves employees in community service with community partners; 3) provides economic growth to the region and locate in neighborhoods with revitalization plans providing employment and drawing capital into communities; and 4) provides funding for community building nonprofits.

Faith Based- The faith-based award recognizes an individual or institution who: 1) is community oriented; 2) deploys both human & financial resources to bear on neighborhood issues, policy change, or social justice issues; and 3) demonstrates a willingness to collaborate with community partners.

Resident- The resident award recognizes a resident who: 1) has shown incredible volunteerism and involvement in their community and/or community initiatives; 2) goes above and beyond normal resident action to sit on boards, head committees, or encourage the engagement of other residents; and 3) lives in a CBN member footprint.

CBN Member- The Community Builders Network award recognizes a CBN member who: 1) Demonstrates excellence in multi-year place-based comprehensive community building based on community engagement; 2) uses data and evaluation to achieve maximum impact in their efforts; and 3) is a full CBN member (signed member pledge and application form).

Community Builders Outstanding Achievement- The Community Builders Outstanding Achievement award recognizes an individual who: 1) demonstrates a long standing commitment to the community building sector; 2) exhibits leadership, vision, and a commitment to action and results; and 3) has achieved an outstanding impact on community building policy, investment, or community change .
