What is Ting?

Ting is no BS mobile service.

Ting is an MVNO (reseller) of the nationwide Sprint network.
http://allaboutandroid.ting.com0:05:00

.

How is Ting different?

No contracts or ETFs: Truly and completely contract-free; no early termination fees or other BS.

No bundling or ride-along services: Choose from XS through XXL service levels for voice minutes, text messages and megabytes of data, all billed separately.

No overage charges or penalties: If you use more than you thought you would, just pay for what you used.

Credits on unused service: If you use less than you thought you would, Ting drops you down to the level you hit and credits the difference to you on your next bill.

.

No add-on charges: Voicemail, caller ID, tethering, hotspot, three-way calling, call forwarding and other features are all part of service; no add-on charges.

No mysterious line items on your bill: Ting charges for what you used plus whatever taxes we're legally required to collect. No hidden charges, recovery fees or other BS.

Unlimited devices on one plan: Have as many devices as you want on one plan sharing pooled minutes, messages and megabytes. Each device on a plan costs a flat $6 per month.

A powerful online account control panel: Take control of your account, your usage and bills in the powerful online control panel.

No-hold customer support: Call us at 1-855-TING-FTW anytime between 8am and 8pm EST and a real person will pick up the phone.

Excellent online support: http://help.ting.com has active customer forums, a simple and powerful help ticketing system, video tutorials, video Start Up Guides and much more.

.

How Ting works:

First you purchase your mobile device from Ting which you will receive in 2-5 business days. Then you activate your device with Ting and have the option to select a new phone number or port an existing one. Finally you select the monthly minutes, messages and megabytes plans that you think represent your usage and Ting will bill you at the beginning of your payment period but you will be charged or credited in the following pay period based on what you actually used.

JHHi Team,
Love the show and love Android.
Google recently has been making a lot of noise about there awesome photo
services and how everyone has unlimited* storage.

I was wondering if you knew if the "unlimited" storage is
only for the "instant upload" or "Auto Backup" photos from the phone. As
when i upload photos from my Mac it seems to eat into my storage???

I cant find anywhere online that states whether or not the unlimited can be used for normal uploads from a computer?
Do you know?

Thanks Again, Love the show,Barry, London, UK

JHHi AAA crew,

Love the show, listen to it religiously. I've discovered many great apps and features over the years through your show. This is my first time writing in, but I thought I'd take the opportunity to introduce you to my app (You mentioned last week you'd love to se what apps the AAA community created). It's called Wifi Prioritizer. It's a very simple app whose main purpose is to prioritise wifi networks as well as force a reconnect when a higher priority network is available. The typical use case (for me at least) is when you tether your tablet to your phone or vice versa, you want the tethered device to automatically switch to your home wireless network when you're in range. Through the settings you can also fine tune how quickly it jumps between wireless extenders at home.

Anyways, thanks for the time, check it out at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.za.flash.wifiprioritizer

Keep up the great work.

Regards,
Robert.

[1] Photos that appear to show a Nexus 4 running Android 4.3 at the 2013 Thailand Mobile Expo have surfaced on the xdadevelopers
[2] Google has moved the settings menu to above the circle and builds on top of itself as you enter new menus. If you don’t want to interact with the menu in the middle of the camera UI, you can tap the settings circle in the bottom right, which then pops up settings over top of the shutter button. We’re also noticing a new timer option that I’m not able to find on my Nexus 4 running Android 4.2.
[3] The White Nexus 4 is real and LG says Hong Kong can order it starting tomorrow. The rest of us will have to wait for the next several weeks. But we can finally put to bed speculation that it exists and change that to "yes it does. Now what?" In other LG news, European LG Mobile VP Won Kim got all loose lipped in an interview with Dutch publication AllAboutPhones (nice name) and a few nuggets appeared right before our very eyes. First, LG is not currently working on a followup to the Nexus 4, but they are open to the possibility (as they winked at Google who walked by right at that very moment.) But LG IS working on an Android tablet, this after putting tablet development on standby last year as they focused on smartphones. So LG fans have that to look forward to, possibly sometime soon.
[4] “While Facebook works to create a better Facebook Home experience, they have recommended that Orange in France and EE in the U.K. hold off on launching the HTC First at this time,” a France Telecom-Orange representative told AllThingsD. “As a result of customer feedback, Facebook has decided to focus on adding customization features to Facebook Home, and will limit support for new devices at this time,” Orange said. The HTC First and Facebook Home, an interface for Android smartphones, launched last month in the U.S. The phone went on sale exclusively through AT&T but has struggled to gain traction. The phone's price was eventually dropped from $99 to $0.99 but rumors have circulated the device is still having a hard time selling and may be pulled entirely.
[5] HTC One close to 5M units shipped one month since launch Compare to Samsung GS4, according to Samsung executives, hit 10 million units sold in less than a month of availability Speaking to the Journal on Wednesday, the unidentified executive said that "orders are pretty good so far and are still more than what we can supply." He blamed the shortage on issues with component availability, and nothing his own company is doing.
[6] several sites including Geek.com and Android Central have independently confirmed that such a device does exist, and will be announced in the coming weeks. This news comes after a string of negative press, including several executives leaving the company, news of relatively underwhelming sales of the One, and indications that its Facebook phone, the First, has been unceremoniously discontinued.
[7] A number of rumors from different supply chain sources are pointing to a July release of the followup to the Nexus 7 tablet. Rumored specs have it touting 4.3, a Snapdragon 600, and an upgraded 1920x1200 HD display. Pricing remains the same, say sources. But you know, rumors.
[8] What's in this version: - New grid view makes it easier to find your files - New quick preview lets you view photos and other files from within the app - Scan documents, receipts and letters for safe keeping in Drive; then search by contents once uploaded - Download a copy of files to your local device (Honeycomb+) - Spreadsheet editor now supports changing fonts, colors and cell alignment - View properties of files from within the editors - Bug fixes and visual improvements
[9] Play Magazines: New lighter UI, slide out sidebar. Play Books: add up to 1,000 PDF and EPUB files to your Google Play online library
[10] Amazon’s Android Appstore has finally launched in Canada (and nearly 200 countries!) after debuting on the U.S.-only Kindle Fire two years ago. While the app selection isn’t as comprehensive as Google’s own Play Store, there is one distinct advantage over the official portal: a free app every day. Today’s free app, 10000000, is one of the better selections, so it’s a good idea to get on the download as soon as possible.
[11] Amazon launching Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ in Canada, ships June 13th
[12] Amazon announced that its Appstore for Android is now available in almost 200 countries Kindle Fire is spreading its reach across the globe, with the total countries in which it's available set to reach 170 on June 13. To celebrate, Amazon says it'll bring back the popular Fruit Ninja as a free app of the day, along with Cut the Rope: Experimentals and classic puzzler Tetris -- these will be available from May 23. Finally the web-based Amazon Appstore is now available to users in the UK. Brits can point their browsers to www.amazon.co.uk/appstore to look through the selection of available paid and free apps.
[13] Some images of a redesigned Gmail app were included in a presentation at IO that hint at some designated categories for autosorting your mail into: Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates, and Forums. A new tip says that the release of an update version is set to hit sometime this week.
[14] Let's go over some of the more unique features like shopping integration, TV schedules and sports results. Unlike Siri or Google Now it doesn't read the results back to you, but it does display them in a nice "cards" grid. "Where can I buy a Nikon camera?" "When is the next Seinfeld episode on?" "What was the score in last night's Spurs game?" It can plug into the schedule for most North American cable, satellite and OTA providers, too, which is neat. We'll also go over the fact that it shows upcoming appointments and can schedule reminders, alarms and events. It has Yelp and OpenTable integration for restaurants, Rotten Tomatoes integration for movies and Google Shopping integration for shopping.
[15] Arcus will tell you when rain is going to fall within the hour, down to the minute, how long it'll rain for and how strong the rain will be. "Heavy rain starting in 4 minutes, for the next 35 minutes". * Severe weather alerts * Homescreen and lockscreen widget (choice of light / dark / transparent) * Saved locations * Dashclock Extension * Multiple graphs and views * Unit Conversion Setting (SI or US) * Customizable Tab Order Unofficial Android app for forecast.io, great weather service Forecast.io is backed by 16 weather data sources, which are aggregated together statistically to provide the most accurate forecast possible for a given location. Pro Features: - No Ads - Up to 5 Custom Locations (free version limited to 2) - Widget Interval Options (free version limited to 1 hour interval)
