Lighting MekanisaWe will offer a workshop for 60 households in this neighborhood in order to address the wider issues of caring for the environment, water conservation and electrical consumption along with instructions on how to best use the solar power technologies being distributed. Each home will be followed up three times by a local representative to measure the effectiveness of the project and the benefit brought by the project. It will also allow for further dialogue to continue and facilitate a time for additional follow-up questions to be asked.ActiveA045P035logan.cochrane@gmail.com

Bondo Peer Water CatchmentJennifer TenWoldeWe propose to mobilize resources to purchase a 24,000 litre tank for catchment of roof water to help us generate horticulture crops in our group`s existing green house. These crops will be sold to generate income. The budgetary estimate to install the complete water catchment system is between 150,000-200,000 KShs ($1,900-$2,500 Cdn). We respectively request that ICO identify a sponsor to fund this initiative. Atilili Primary School Jennifer TenWoldeAtilili Primary School is located in Bondo District, Siaya County, Kenya. This population includes 260 orphans and other vulnerable children.
The majority of the parents live below the poverty line ie., earning less than one dollar per day. This means that they are unable to afford the basic school needs and other contributions towards building the school.
The school performs wells in both curriculum and co-curriculum activities despite the short comings, some of which are HIV/AIDS related

Bondo School SponsorshipJennifer TenWoldeThis initiative is a primary school sponsorship program for mostly orphaned children in Bondo, Kenya. Public primary schools have 90-120 children per classroom and 1 teacher. The poor children have no chance in those classes as they live in a one room mud house with other siblings sleeping on floor and no time for homework because of chores. Early intervention in a private primary school is the only way to give them a chance to go to high school later on where they might be sponsored by other organisations that demand certain grades to qualify. Your sponsorship is the best way for a family to climb out of poverty later on.ActiveA054P045

Madagascar Roof Project (Denise Gabriel)Denise GabrielLocals from the small village of Andonaka come together to refit the one room public schoolhouse with a new roof. Built in the 1980s, the only affordable materials for the roof were grasses and sticks, unsuitable for keeping out the heavy rains. Now with a metal roof in place, the children of the village can attend school year round. Uganda - Kitgum Bee Keeping Micro-Finance InitiativePeter LukwiyaTraditional bee keeping is an important seasonal activity in many Ugandan communities. Farmer's hives are traditionally built from bamboo, and honey is usually pressed by hand. Once the honey is extracted from the comb, it is naturally treated using heat and basic filtration, and then bottled for market. It is sometimes sold to be used for medicinal purposes, such as treating colds, or warding off infections suffered by HIV/AIDS. The wax is used in everything from candles to textiles.ActiveA007REQDREQD

Community Leader: VacantZimbabwe - Marunda Village Community ProjectThe Marunda Village community was looking for a way they could support the children of their village, who were in need of education and food resources. A pre-school had been established, but after a year many of the school-age children discontinued because they could not afford to pay their school fees. As a solution, nine women took the initiative to start an egg farming project in order to help send the children to school. The egg farmers are working together with a Canadian farming woman, and they have raised a hundred hens and a hundred chicks.CurrentA031P019https://docs.google.com/a/innovativecommunities.org/document/d/1AJHzlWpwDU9Nw-T-KXPfIkIXgpfn513j-zZWtZ28v40/edit?hl=en_GB
