JHOnce or twice over last couple of episodes, you have briefly discussed
the very real slow down of the Galaxy Nexus over time. As a Galaxy Nexus
owner and fan, I have begrudgingly listened intently to those
conversations. I too, have noticed the slow down and it has made me :'(

Apparently, there is a reason and solution. Both of which
are detailed in the attached article from Android Central about TRIM
being included in the 4.3 update.
I would love
to detail to you that this does indeed speed up the Galaxy Nexus. But my
phone is the only of the three Nexus devices in my home that has yet to
receive 4.3.

Love the show! Thanks to all who make it happen

We're in the middle of an exploding digital economy, driven by software--and nearly every company on the planet is becoming, in essence, a software company. Stash helps software teams take advantage of Git, the newest trend in development, to write quality code quickly.
0:05:00

.

Talking Points
Stash provides a central place to create and manage Git repositories hosted on your own servers. It's the place where all distributed code comes back together, where you can find the latest official version of your project and keep track of code activity.
Stash significantly reduces maintenance and gives IT Administrators flexibility to control user management and permissions.
Your servers, your rules. Stash supports your growing Git repositories within the safety of your firewall.
Stash's traceability and integration points allow teams to follow their code from development all the way through delivery in one system.

.

Development isn't just about coding. Teams using Stash can quickly get a handle on which branches are affected by a particular bug, and who’s working on the fix.
It can be a struggle to bring new technology trends to a large enterprise. Stash enables teams to embrace Git using existing environments and authentication, with fine-grained permissions and code traceability enterprise teams, all within the safety of your firewall.
Enterprise code can be complicated, but administration is simple with Stash: create a project, add Git repositories, and assign permissions--all in a matter of seconds.
Avoid the overhead of managing Git for your team with an intuitive interface to add users and groups, create and manage code repositories, and a logical project structure.
Stash fully integrates with JIRA. Understand what issues were fixed and what code changes fixed those issues. Track the progress of work being done on JIRA issues.

GTHi AAA crew I've been an Android fanboy since my mytouch on T-Mobile
but lately I've fallen on android hard times.  My G-nex died and the
loaner S3 I had died as well(red light of death).  With this I've had
to resort to using an old Droid X.

So here's your mission if you decide to accept it; pull out that old
Droid running gingerbread and run exclusively off that for a week or

Because I'd love to hear your views on this "flash back" and

RRHey AAA team,

I recently started using Google Play Music. It makes life a lot easier
that I'm no longer required to store music locally on my device. I like
the idea of streaming my music. It's been working great.

I uploaded my collection but have come across
something that seems a little odd. I uploaded the Pearl Jam album
Binaural. Whenever I play the song on the album called 'Of The Girl',
there is no singing. The song is truly instrumental. This only happens
when I play it through Google Play Music on my phone or through the web
browser.

I have heard of people uploading explicit albums and getting ones with all the
swearing removed. This makes it sound like they match tags to
pre-existing music on their server and linking that song to save space?
Maybe I've just been linked an instrumental version of the song?

Anyway, I went to play.google.com/music
and have flagged the song as incorrectly matched. It said that a
different or I presume correct version will be uploaded in the next day.
I'm really confused and if someone could shed some light on how it all
actually works and a solution to my issue would be great.

Thanks guys and keep up the great work!
Regards,Anthony from Melbourne, Australia [12]

[1] Google’s Sundar Pichai announced that the company has now seen more than 70 million Android tablet activations — with around 50 million of those happening in 2013 alone. Google also announced that more than 50 billion apps have now been downloaded from Google Play. At Google I/O back in May, Google announced 48 billion Google Play downloads, which means over 2 billion titles have been downloaded in just a few weeks. Google Play now offers more than 1 million apps and games, and it has seen a 2.5 times increase in revenue per user. In comparison, Apple CEO Tim Cook announces last month that the App Store currently has 900,000 apps on offer, so it would appear Google Play has finally overtaken it.
[2] Strategy Analytics has published its second-quarter report for global tablet shipments. The market intelligence firm found that Android accounted for 67 percent of worldwide shipments in the second quarter of 2013. Both iOS and Windows declined to 28 percent and 4.5 percent of the global market share, respectively.
[3] OpenGL ES 3.0 — Game developers can now take advantage of OpenGL ES 3.0 and EGL extensions as standard features of Android, with access from either framework or native APIs. • Bluetooth Smart aka BT LE— Now your apps can communicate with the many types of low-power Bluetooth Smart devices and sensors available today, to provide new features for fitness, medical, location, proximity, and more. • Restricted profiles — Tablet owners can create restricted profiles to limit access to apps, for family, friends, kiosks, and more. Your app can offer various types of restrictions to let tablet owners control its capabilities in each profile. (content control on the user level) • New media capabilities — A modular DRM framework enables media application developers to more easily integrate DRM into their own streaming protocols such as MPEG DASH. Apps can also access a built-in VP8 encoder from framework or native APIs for high-quality video capture. (Netflix is the first to support it, full 1080p streaming) • Notification access — Your apps can now access and interact with the stream of status bar notifications as they are posted. You can display them in any way you want, including routing them to nearby Bluetooth devices, and you can update and dismiss notifications as needed. • Improved profiling tools — New tags in the Systrace tool and on-screen GPU profiling give you new ways to build great performance into your app. Improved Photospheres Support for up to 4K
[4] App Ops is hidden in 4.3 and inactive at the moment, though there are ways to wake it up if you are actually running 4.3. This would allow users to disable permissions for apps, much in the same way that CyanogenMod did recently with it's App Permission Control.
[5] Android forces persistent notifications on apps that can't be killed.
[6] Bye Q. Hello Chromecast. $35. Requires 2.3+. Phone/Tablet on Android or iOS, or computer running Chrome OS, Mac OS and Windows. Install Google Cast to cast from a browser to Chromecast. Right now, YouTube, Google Play and Netflix work with an update. Other apps can now use the Google Cast API to discover and transmit to the receiver device. Adding support requires less than 200 lines of code. Content plays on TV, user can control it on device, as well as multitask on device.
[7] quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, 7" 1920x1200, 5-megapixel rear camera and dual rear speakers. 4G LTE model offered in US as well as WiFi only
[8] three new tablets Amazon plans to launch in the coming months: First will be a replacement for the entry-level Kindle Fire tablet, while the other two will be replacements for both current flagship Kindle Fire HD models. Beginning with the upcoming new 7-inch Kindle Fire HD tablet, BGR reported that the slate will feature a high-resolution 1,920 x 1,200-pixel display and a new design, *powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) system on a chip, which includes four Krait 400 CPUs and Adreno 330 graphics. Prototypes are said to be clocked at about 2GHz. The new 7-inch Kindle Fire HD set to launch later this year also includes an upgrade to 2GB of RAM, a front-facing camera, Wi-Fi and available cellular connectivity. It will ship with either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage according to our sources, and internal test units are currently running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean with Amazon’s heavy customizations. Considering how close we are to Amazon’s target launch timeframe, this will likely be the device’s operating system version at launch. The larger 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD model Amazon is planning to release this fall features specs similar to the 7-inch model behind its 2,560 x 1,600-pixel high-definition display. Sources state that the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset will power the tablet and it will also feature the same front-facing camera, optional cellular data support, internal storage sizes and 2GB of RAM. The 8.9-inch model will also feature an 8-megapixel rear camera though, while the 7-inch model will not include a rear camera. Multiple sources tell BGR that Amazon is shooting for a fall launch, possibly as early as late September, and all three devices are said to currently be on track.
[9] Discover great games Play with your friends, and see what they’re playing Join multiplayer games Track your achievements Compare scores with other players
[10] Textbooks are coming to Google Play for purchase or rent. Partners include Pearson, Wiley, Macmillian Higher Education, McGraw-Hill and Cengage Learning. The service will launch in August. Prices not announced but Google dd mention an 80 percent discount compared to the normal retail prices.
[11] Google has moved the Verify Apps system to Google Play Services, which at this point should be installed on all Google Play Store-equipped Android devices running Gingerbread or higher. Verify Apps is not to be confused with the "Bouncer," Google's Play Store watchdog that keeps an eye on the included Android apps, to greater or lesser success. This is a client-side process that actively scans apps as you install them, even when side-loading APKs, one of the major vectors of attack on unsuspecting Android users. Google has performed similar switches for all its major apps, sending updated versions through the Play Store instead of waiting on manufacturers and carriers to update hardware. This change may have happened a few months ago

This only happens when I play it through Google Play Music on my phone or through the web browser. If I play the exact same audio file locally on my PC the singing is there. I can't figure out why this is happening! My music collection is all FLAC but I do transcode everything to mp3 V0 so I can keep filesizes down. I thought something may have gone wrong with the transcode so I tried it again and the same problem occurs. Note the FLAC version and mp3 transcode both have singing. It only happens when the song is played through Google Play Music. I'm assuming it's definitely something happening server side with Google. I'm starting to question whether what we have selected to upload to Google Play Music is REALLY uploaded.
