Improve KAlgebra log designKAlgebra has a calculator mode, which is the main mode that appears when launching the application. It's meant to be used for calculations, the results are displayed in an HTML log.

Because of the following bug [2] I've been considering to enhance it, by making the log more interactive. If you see [1] you'll see that there's a * that will copy the expression in the text input. This works, but it looks terribly ugly.

What should be done is:
* Improve the representation of the UI element that will copy the input expression to the input
* Add some UI to copy the result

Feature Comparison Parley and KWordQuizParley and KWordQuiz are vocabulary learning applications within the KDE Edu module. It is your task to get familiar with both applications (read documentation, use programs, etc.) and write a report about the question what would be necessary to make Parley a real successor of KWordQuiz
In details, you should answer the following questions in your report:
1. Feature Comparison (which features does KWordQuiz provides that are missing in Parley; which features does Parley provides that are missing in KWordQuiz)
2. Comparison of Workflows and User Experience (how do the learner workflows differ in both applications)
3. What would be the necessary steps to include all workflows and features from KWordQuiz in Parley?
Please submit your report in an editable standard format (preferable OpenDocument). Your report should include screenshots and references to specific handbook sections (at docs.kde.org) where appropriate.

Wikimedia and Language Learning in KDE EduKDE Edu (http://edu.kde.org) provides several powerful applications that ease the process of learning a new language. On the other side, under the umbrella of the Wikimedia foundation (http://www.wikimedia.org/) there are a lot of awesome projects that could be integrated in Edu applications to better support learning a new language or that could even inspire new applications of their own.
It is your task to write a survey on the questions: "How can KDE Edu ease language learning by using Wikimedia content". In details, you should write your report about at least 5 scenarios that each explain
- what data of which Wikimedia project should be used
- how should this data be used in the KDE Edu applications (be precise!)
- how would your proposed changes improve for a learner experience in the named application
Your report should conclude with a suggestion on how to proceed from the point of view of a KDE Edu developer.

KDevelop Python: code completion for string formattingkdev-python provides Python language support for the KDevelop IDE.

The idea of this task is to implement code completion for the string formatting mini-language:
http://docs.python.org/2/library/string.html#format-examples

It is used to create formatted output, but with its many abbreviations it's notoriously difficult to remember. Thus it would be great to provide code completion for it: When a user types an opening curly brace in a string (or a colon/exclamation mark, look at the above link to get an idea what makes sense), give him a list of possible formatting options to choose from.

For implementing this, you should start looking at codecompletion/context.cpp in the kdev-python repository. The task is not trivial; if you have problems, please contact me and I'll be happy to help. You will need somewhat firm knowledge in C++ to accomplish this task.

For marking this task as solved, I'd expect a few common options to be working, as a demo. If you're interested, I can then create various other tasks which build on this one, such as implementing more options, using kate's template engine to provide easy-to-edit templates for formatters such as :02X or similar, or displaying the relevant formatting argument in a tooltip when providing arguments to "...".format(...).

KDevelop Python: fix issues in the built-in library supportkdev-python provides Python language support for the KDevelop IDE.

kdev-python defines basic properties and data types in the documentation_files/builtindocumentation.py file. For example, this contains a declaration for the built-in "float" object. Recently, kdev-python has gained support for evaluating binary operators (that means, it can now find the type of an expression such as a * b) by looking at class declarations. However, this is not yet properly reflected in the builtin documentation for python's basic data types.

As an example, multiplying a list by an int, as in a = [1, 2] * 3 will assign [1, 2, 1, 2, 1, 2] to a. For supporting this, in the "list" class in the file mentioned above, there would need to be a declaration like
def __mul__(self, other): return list()
(optimally, this declaration would have the @returnContentEqualsContentOf(0) decorator to keep the content type).

The goal of this task is to find the most common of the current missing operators (as an example, all of plus, minus, divide, multiply, ... between int/float/complex are missing) and add them to the file. A bonus would be to merge those changes to the "python3-nofork" branch.

This task should be rather simple, you only need to know some python and need to do some reading. No knowledge of C++ or Qt is required.

Note: there can be some complicated issues when the result of an operation depends on the argument type, e.g. int.__mul__(other) could be int, float, list, ...
This is currently difficult to support, so we should just stick to the most common case (such as int.__div__ always returns float, int.__mul__ always returns int, etc).

KDevelop Python: passing arguments to the pep8 checkerkdev-python provides Python language support for the KDevelop IDE.

In the kdevelop options dialog, there's a way to specify a PEP8 (coding style) checker executable. It's currently not possible to pass arguments to that executable. To complete this task, you should add the option to provide arguments; either in the same line edit, or by adding an extra line edit.

Basic knowledge of C++/Qt is required to complete this task.

.

kdev-python: fix binary operators with unsure typeskdev-python provides Python language support for the KDevelop IDE.

This is a difficult task -- it requires you to get somewhat familiar with KDevelop's duchain architecture and thus requires you to have firm C++ knowledge at least. But for the same reason, it might be very interesting ;)

kdev-python does static analysis on python code. This means that it will try to guess types of objects without tracking control flow, and without actually executing code. In cases where no clear type can be determined, kdev-python will resort to e.g. unsure(int, string) if it can't tell if an object is an integer or a string.
The problem this task aims to address is that currently, in code like
class c:
def __mul__(self, other): return int()
x = c(); x = 3.5; y = 3
z = x * y
z will be "mixed" instead of "unsure(int, float)" as it should be. The reason is that the analyzer does not support evaluating binary operators for unsure types.

To fix this, you want to look ExpressionVisitor::visitBinaryOperation and handle the case where v.lastType()->whichType() is TypeUnsure. In this case, the code should do what it does now for each type v.lastType() contains, and merge the resulting types in a new UnsureType, then return that.
Additionally, when no useful type can be determined from looking at the operator methods, it should just fall back to unsure(left operand, right operand).

If you need help in working on this task (which I expect) feel free to contact me.

JuK: Check and Update Copyright Headers and Collect any missing informationUpdate JuK's license headers by adding more information. It's useful to know who contributed to various parts and during which period for statistical reasons. If we get a complete list and manage to maintain it, any future license changes (ex. to GPLv3) will be easier. If there is a incorrect license stated in a header, the copyright holders should be contacted before making the fix. 80shubhamchaudhary92Codejuk, code, copyright, kde-multimedia
