What environmental projects should the Green Team do in Maplewood?
What environmental issues are most important to you?
Current projects include: improving the Rahway River corridor environmentally and as a non-motorized link to South Orange, increasing recycling pickups, encouraging more biking and pedestrian activity, educating for sustainability in our schools, developing community gardens, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), farm cooperatives, and raising local chickens.
Current issues of focus include: reducing Maplewood’s carbon footprint (in 2007, we pledged, as a town, to reduce our carbon footprint 20% by 2015). We are always looking for ways to increase energy efficiencies, increase recycling participation, reduce waste, reduce consumption, buy locally, and to otherwise reduce our impact on the environment.
