You/Personal Writing: "How's it going so far?" Questionnaire 2012
Hi everyone,

Time flies, and this week is the half way point in our short nine week journey through writing about ourselves.

Could you answer the following questions and let me know your ideas? By Monday 10/15 is best.

I ask for you to input your name, but please note that this questionnaire is NOT graded, and critical answers and suggestions will not affect your grade. In fact, as long as you write them with love and a desire to improve the course, they will improve your grade because it will show that you are engaged in the process of making this learning environment better together.

So please write out your thoughts. As you know, this type of class is still experimental for me, and I just want to hear your honest feelings and think how I can support your writing and learning more. If things are going terribly for you, or you are really frustrated, worried or confused about something, just let me know. If things are going well, let me know that too so that I know.

I'm looking forward to everyone's responses, even short ones. I would appreciate it!

Mark

PS: Please note that I may show all the results to all classmates, but if I do that, I will do it without names. I will remove the names before summarizing the results.

How's the "blogging" going? How many blog articles have you written? Input a number such as 10, 8 etc. *
We've had 5 fixed topics (the first week had two) and 5 "open" topics. If you don't have 10, you can still catch up!
Is the blogging (and commenting on classmate blogs) useful or meaningful for you? And how could it be better? *
Please write your impressions and suggestions
How is the writing of your first piece? What stage are you at? *
Choose one of the following below
What is your feeling about the writing for publishing? Any suggestions for how to make the process better? *
It is very free right now...Is that OK? Do you want clearer deadlines? criteria? required topics/genres? This format of free expression is an experiment for me, so please let me know your honest feelings.
For your second and third pieces, what kind of themes or genres are you considering? Even tentative ideas are OK. *
You are free to choose your own genre and theme as you like...like a real writer! I know this can be confusing if you have never done this, but it is very good practice to go through this writer's dilemma of "If I can write anything, what will it be? What is meaningful to me personally?"
What is your feeling about the classroom activities so far? Any suggestions for how to use class time more effectively for you? *
(10x10 self-intros, my explanations of writing processes, brainstorming on good writing, brainstorming topics/genres, free writing time, peer discussions about your pieces...how are those?
Finally, is there anything else you'd like to ask, request, or suggest at this point? Any other comments/questions? *
Anything is OK! Please let me know what's on your mind.
Thanks! Please just click Submit. I'll take a look at the results on Monday, and see what we can do to make the course as good as possible over the next few weeks. -Mark
