Read the following interview.
A: I’m the promotions manager here in New York for a multinational recording campany
based in Tokyo. We have a turnover of about 60 billion dollars a year.
B: Wow! Sounds interesting. How many people work there?
A: In Tokyo only about 2,000, but in the offices around the worl, probably another 10,000.
B: That’s a loto f people. So do you live here in New York?
A: For the moment yesbut it’s only temporary.I’m working here for the moment, but last
yearI was in Bonn, and next year I’ll be in Rome.
B: You’re the Promotions Manager,so who’s your boss?
A: I report to the Marketin Manager.
B: And what does your job involve?
A:Well our corebusiness i music CDs, so basically I’m responsible for promoting the key
new groups, for ensuring that they get seen and heard as much as possible.
B: Sounds fun.
A: Yeah but more oten than not I work very long hours. At the moment for example, I’m
to lots of late night concerts which you get sick of after a while.
B:Yeah, I suppose if you’re doing it all the time. But do you meetsome interesting people?
A: Yeah, I meet all the groups and travel to some exciting placesbut you know pop stars
can be very demanding- they don’t turn up for interviews and scheduling anything is a
nightmare; and often I don’t always like their music.
B: No, sure.
A: At the moment I’m promoting a group of 16-year-olds who really need a mother to look
after them more than a manager
